I will be thrown offline next friday due to a change in my phone line. I dont know when I will be back up. Could take a day, a week or a month. I'll still check my email and the forums from college though.

It isn't so. There, i said it =P
Well now that I have some more time let me explain this a bit more.
I used to live on the 3rd and last floor of my building. It sucked. Very low ceilings, slanted ones too, full of mold and it sometimes rained in there.
It wasnt even planned to be inhabited when the building was first made, it was supposed to be a storage area.
Back in December/January I moved to the 1st floor, where the ceilings are like twice as high and we get both sides of the building so its a pretty big house.
I had requested that my phone line be transfered ages ago but due to some monumental idiocy at the phone company my first request was lost or something and no one ever called me to schedule the transfer.
I've only been able to get on the internet all this time because I bought a 20 meter phone cable and ran it from the 3rd floor to the 1st =)
So now we submitted another request, and today they called me and we scheduled it for friday afternoon.
I dont know how these things work but there is probably some sort of activation necessary. When I first requested ADSL activation for my phone line I had to wait for a month before I could connect to my ISP.
I dont know if the new phone line will come with ADSL capabilities turned on or not. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and hope it works ok right out of the box so to speak =)

Hopefully for you, the building just has a phone switchbox somewhere it and all they guy will have to do is swap a few wires and test for noise. Good luck...

We dont have a phone socket in this place yet so I guess it will take a bit more wiring than just that. As for the phone switchbox, I'm not aware of any. This is a tiny 3-floor building made in 1930 so it might be different but ill keep my fingers crossed
