hamlet said: "Yeah," I say, "but again, folks really looking for financial gain and focused on that are still the minority." here: http://secondlife.blogs.com/nwn/2004/03/researching_me_.htmli wonder if he would say that now. do you think the statement is true now?

Considering the large amount of people who go to clubs and shop who don't seem to create or sell anything whatsoever, I say capitalists are the minority. However, I also think that since most of the people you see in clubs ARE newbies, I can see them becoming "capitalists" later on. I also believe that a large amount of people who DO create and sell stuff are NOT out for ONLY financial gain -- while it IS helpful -- but mostly just because they like creating stuff and seeing if people like what they've created.

Which definition of capitolist? 1. A supporter of capitalism. 2. An investor of capital in business, especially one having a major financial interest in an important enterprise. 3. A person of great wealth.

i meant capitalist in the context of the interview. that's why i posted the link. but if you need a clear definition, i'll say:
"somone who is working to earn more dollars from sl than they're investing in sl." their investment includes account fees, tier fees, linden purchases and any bandwidth, hardware or software that they secure in order to make money in sl.
i'll grant it's a daunting vision to expect to come out ahead. i just wonder, after rereading the interview how many people are actually doing this. mind that they may be pipe dreaming, or wholly incapable of doing the work or properly accounting their funds, but it's their mindset nonetheless.
let me clarify one more thing while i'm here. this is a matter of perception, not a statistically valid poll with a margin of error of two-point-three percent. nobody has to justify their point or defend their position. i want to know what y'all think.

I have to say... The few things I've made and sold in SL are to support my shopping habit, not for rl personal gain. Not sure if that makes me a capitalist or a responsible addict!
