After eating a rather delicious bowl of She Crab soup in lovely, historic Savannah GA this weekend I began wondering about the name. Why just female crabs, are male crabs not tasty?
It must be a Male Chauvinist, homophobic ploy to rid the world of female crabs. Female crabs are softer, more tender and gentler than the male crabs who are bigger, smarter and do all of the work. The females have all of the children, all the male has to do is… well… you know. It’s a conspiracy I tell ya!
Long live the male crab!!!!

You forgot to mention the she crab meat is sooo much sweeter to the taste!
