If it's anywhere near as good as the 1925 production - it will be GREAT~

One of my fave pieces of music is that main theme from the Lloyd Webber musical... it's so dang catchy. I like it when the notes descend chromatically into madness. I used to play that in a church, in the dark, and spook out my friends.

Hopefully it will do the story some justice.

I was IN LOVE with Andrew Lloyd Weber's production of it back in the early ninties. I was such a nerd then.. damn. I never ever ever got to see it, but I loved that soundtrack and the calender and picture books...

come to think of it, I had all the gimmicky merchandise, but never got to go to the show. :(

I loved that thing to death.

That story is amazing... truly amazing.

Totaly agree with you. Man what a classic! In fact, some years ago I saw this film again, but this time with todays music insted of the classic version the 1925 production had. It actually turned a great film classic into a classic COMEDY!!! It was so funny, after watching it, I watched it again 2 more times..... Hopefully it will NOT bomb!!!!!!

Looking forward to it. Loved the show and loved the music.

Then again, if I was in Christine's shoes I would have told the phantom to cut the crap and stop whining. But I suppose that wouldn't be very romantic.

BTW I remember reading an article about a local production of the show where the dude who played the phantom said he got a bunch of fan letters from young kids offering "to be his friend". I thought that was sweet.

I am really excited about this too. I saw Phantom in both London and Toronto. Michael Crawford's voice filling the entire theater as the music dropped out behind "Close your eyes and let music set you free" during Music of the Night was nearly heart stopping (as was the equally talented Colm Wilkinson in Toronto), and it was unforgettable. If the film is half as good as the trailer, it will be well worth the wait.

On a side note, it amazes me how often Phantom and other ALW musicals get trashed by critics, yet they have such a following.

*droolz*

I just dug up all my old "Phantom" stuff... calenders, posters, books (both of the musical and the story itself... which is even more engaging), the tape (!), and my drawings from when I was young and in love with it all.

Though it's just a film version of the musical, I'm excited. Like I said, I never got to see the show when I was younger. The various book versions of the story would make for an interesting film as well.. hmm

damn. a movie I'm actually really excited about. yay! :D
