Hello to everyone!
I recently began my Second Life and I am looking for my first "job" here. I don't have the official "30 days in Second Life" as so many companies want you to have before they hire you (which I guess I can understand because they want to see if you are serious about staying on), however I am not looking for the "standard SL job".
After seeing all the want ads for dancers, hostesses, DJs, etc, I am hoping that there may be a company/business that is in need of someone to work for them in a non-entertainment position. While I do agree that we should be exploring "alternate lives" in Second Life, I'm not sure becoming a dancer is the Second Life I really want.
My SL availability hours would be after 5pm EST on weekdays and negotiable on weekends.
My skills are varied and my knowledge is eclectic.
* I am a Native English speaker, but in my RL, I teach High School Spanish, so I am bilingual and used to the teaching environment. I have also had experience with Portuguese, French and German in the past and feel comfortable using online translators in dealing with any languages and people who do not speak English. I could be a teacher for you if you run a school, teaching both English and Spanish.
* I have a lot of writing and editing experiences through my university/thesis years as well as needing to write and edit in my current occupation. I would enjoy helping companies/businesses with descriptive writing and/or editing grammar, spelling and wording of products and advertising.
I am surprised at just how many products I have purchased in my first few days in SL that are filled with typos and poor grammar in their descriptions and I think that with an extra added touch of having an editor on staff, products will have a more more professional look.
* I worked as an Administrative Assistant in my earlier years and have the skills needed to be organized and the abilities to multi-task and prepare documentation. If you are looking for an Assistant to help you with organizing, meeting with clients, preparing documentations, I would be a qualified "right hand woman".
* I am an extremely outgoing and friendly person, so combining my professional skills with my communicative skills could allow me to be at the front line of your business. I can carry on multiple conversations and instant messages at the same time while I am circulating the room, attending to whatever tasks are necessary.
If avatar looks matter, my avatar is not unattractive. She is already out of her "newbie form". I can outfit her in a formal and professional set of clothing and I can make her fit whatever mold you'd require for your organization. After all, there are "work clothes" and "play clothes" available to us at the drop of a hat. I am not against using voice chat if absolutely necessary, but I do prefer the majority of my work be done through typing.
I would love to meet with anyone who is interested in my skills and who might have a position that I could fill in your organization. Please send me a message in game to meet for an interview or even a cup of coffee in an informal location.
Looking forward to meeting some of you in game,
~~ Nicholaa McCallen
