Second Life is a world created by it's inhabitants and as They tell us, "It's Our World".
Many of us were disappointed by this week's Town meeting. It was a very controlled environment and only hand picked questions were addressed and with the vaguest of answers. In my opinion it didn't really address the inquires of Project Open Letter.
These are the inherent problems I see:
*By offer perpetual free accounts without "trial dates" Linden Lab has allowed the world to over populate beyond a controllable means.
*The Overpopulation issue is a burden to the grid and its mechanics causing lag, break downs, inventory issues, teleporting issues, login issues etc. These issues restrict commerce while promoting an environment that is a haven for griefers. The current system in place cannot handle this load.
*Linden Lab refuses to acknowledge this as a core issue.
*Linden Lab has been stretched beyond it's capacity to offer solid customer service to its clients.
We are citizens here and have the right to exist in a system that runs properly and in an enviroment that is safe while promoting commerce and trade. And here above all else we have the right to, "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
At the town meeting were those present who offered solid solutions to the problems we face. I realized that in a world of 6 million people we ourselves have the means to solve our own problems.
I feel it is time for us to form a "More Perfect Union" of these voices into a think tank that can address and resolve the issues troubling us today. Among us are U.S. Attorneys, System Analysts, Scripters, Programmers, Web Designers, Merchants, Inworld Designers, Monetary Advisors, Activists and Campaigners, and many more proffessions who can lend their insight and know how to this cause.
This is not a revolution, nor anarchy, nor griefing. This is a grass roots movement. This is the people of Second Life making themselves heard while taking ownership of the issues that plague us and doing so within the boundaries of the TOS.
This isn't done in opposition to Linden Lab. This is the community offering it's support. Linden Lab is a 100 or so people while the community is over 6 million. When a Majority speaks the minority must listen.
I have formed a group called Project Second Choice. Search for it in Groups or send me a notecard requesting an invite as IM's tend to cap out. I can also be reached at Levey_Palou@yahoo.com. If what I have stated here today has moved you and is logical then please join. If you can offer a service to the group then you are greatly needed. Now is the time to make a difference.
Thank you for reading this post and I look forward to seeing you all at the first meetings as there will be several held to accomadate our European and Pacific citizens as well. Everyone's voice will be heard.
