Hello. I have been in Second Life for over 2 years now so I know who is a good builder, who is a great builder, and who doesn't know how to build all the way. I need a good or great builder for this project. I am a master of building in SL, but I am not a designer. This is what you will be designing/building -

THEME - Robotic Mech

BASIC REQUIREMENT OVERVIEW (NOTE-These are not the full requirements):

-5 Objects Total
-Pilot Cockpit
-2 Thighs
-2 Feet
-10 to 15 meters tall
-Doesn't have to be texture
-Good build, don't give me something I could build in 2 minutes

To find out all of the requirements, contact me in-world preferably through notecard (Undala Oceanlane). I will be paying 2500L if it meets requirements, MAYBE 3000L if I really like it. I will be wanting this full permissions and permission to sell it or give it away. If all goes well, I will need multiple Mech versions... you will be the person I will call upon. Again if you are interested, contact me.

P.S. - Don't reply to this post if your expecting me to read it :S

Is 2500L's worth it?

This is just a general shout-out to builders of experience out there. This guy's looking for a Mech Warrior set-up & detailed mechanical body build w/ a glass cockpit and will give you around $10 USD for what could take around 8 hours or more for building this.

Is that really what you would charge, as an experienced builder, to put together?

I've been building for well over a year now, and have a successful biz in SL working for private clients, and yeah if i was a beginner I'd take a job like that for the L's, but as a expert builder w/ a RL "building" degree and madd design capabilities, I wonder if you all think that's a fair price?

I'd charge this guy more like 12,000 L's.

Let me know, for I'm always looking at how to improve my "game."

yeah this guy is pretty tight but you know most people are in SL. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe they think 2 or 3K is a lot of money. I don't know. Its confusing. Thats why its so hard to do custom building, i always end up having to sell myself short.

And whats worse is when the person is a moron and says "Well, this store sells this item that is similar and its only L$300" Well duh, that person sells to lots of people and not full perm lol. When we sell custom we usually sell it full perm and only YOU get this item. So it stays unique.

People should pay a bit more realistically. seriously cut em a break for their talent.

I hope no one takes this person up on this offer.

pennies on the hour of labor for custom full perm work is what you offering.

P.S. - I am not really posting for you but for the new people who read this so that they know not to be so foolish themselves. You make a great example.

Your opinions are reasonable, but really... instead of people trying to talk up the price, you just stereotype me as some cheap jerk who doesn't give a crap. Listen... I already found someone, and I chose a friend. Obviously someone who I know is a much better person to work with then someone who takes a forum post as a first impression. For all those builders out there... I'M SORRY MY POST INSULTED YOUR TALENT...? C'mon, lol. But really, if I did insult you... sorry, it's just a forum post. Instead of telling everyone out there I'm an idiot just come talk to me and SAY to my face, "I will do it for 12,000L but 2500L is pretty cheap... I mean really." And I would say "Well let me see your previous builds." Then if you are as good as you say you are, I would say "Wow! Alright sure that will work." Yes 2500L isn't a lot of money, hence I can upload more... lawl. Alright, well nvm I already found a person... thanks for your comments everyone on this pricing conspiracy... LOL.

If you don't want to accept this offer, don't come in here and vomit all over it. What's wrong with you people? If the price is cheap then don't even bother, but don't come in here like the authority and make posts to lessen the OP. That's just dick.

Maybe the real question here is 'Are these so-called experienced builders overpaid?'

I hired a 'builder' before. He claimed to have a degree in 3D this and that and charged a premium, but by the time he was done and demanded payment, his build was something than I could have done, yet he was demanding payment.

Here's a tip: Stop sitting on your asses and trying to make a real living in SL. If building is fun for you then build, if you expect to make RL wages then GTFO of SL and get yourself a real job... that is if you can overcome the fear of leaving momma's basement.

• Here's the best poster, Briana Dawson. Wow, look at her forum post count! What a winner!

"I hope no one takes this person up on this offer." No one with unrealistic expectations. Anyone who enjoys a challenge and enjoys building? Feel free to tackle this and get paid too.

"pennies on the hour of labor for custom full perm work is what you offering." I see a challenge and something to keep a bored creative builder busy. Not every builder out there is a penny pinching douche... *coughslikeyou* By the way, if you're going to insult someone, at least spell "your" correctly. "you offering" - what?

"You make a great example." And you, Bri, make a great example of a b*tch who needs to keep her nose out of other people's business. Go work on yourself, you need it.

-----------------------
This is a pick from Briana's SL profile entitled REJECTION:
-----------------------

[7:58] Rene : Hi Briana
[7:58] Briana Dawson: hello
[7:59] Rene : shall we f**k hun
[7:59] Briana Dawson: i dont mess with guys in collars/cufs
[7:59] Rene : i'm a Switch
[7:59] Briana Dawson: i dont do subs/kajirus, bi guys - or male switches
[7:59] Rene : its ok
[7:59] Rene : *SAD*

Wow, what a horrid person to post up someone's rejection on her profile for a laugh, and here she is again doing the same? This person needs some help.

Check her YouTube page, it's listed in her SL profile.

Who the hell uses a picture of their nude SL avatar as their video? What is WRONG with you? I'm starting to see that this is just one thing after another: forum trolling, rejection posting, odd YouTube page? Yikes!

Not too fun when someone bashes on you, huh Bri? Maybe put yourself in the OP's shoes.

So you are saying SL can never be a real job? Just because it seems like a game to you? What about all those out there who actually are making a decent living off SL? The way i see it, work is work. Some people pay something decent, some don't want to. Theres nothing wrong with offering a small amount of money for the work done. People who go on SL as a hobby and do a bit of work here and there probably don't mind doing it for little pay. They usually have a RL job too and just do SL on the side.

But there are those people who actually do want to make a living. It may be difficult but its well worth it. Some people do pay rl wages believe it or not. And not everyone can easily work what you would call a "real job" . Some people have a disability, or have a disadvantage of some sort, maybe its a single mother who cannot leave the house, or someone inbetween jobs and just can't find anyone to hire. Times are tough these days and some people are not capable of working a real job. But luckily SL is here to help us.

I'm not picking on the OP. If he can find someone who will do good work for him for that price thats good. It just gets frustrating for some who are looking for decent pay for their job here and it gives off an impression to others looking for similar work done that they can just pay in pennies. People are just so misinformed about money and pricing. I bet the OP could make L$3000 within a few days of selling the mech. Which is just in my opinion not fair to the worker.

Was that bashing?

Hey, my "Rejected" Picks get crazy-laughs and people IM me all the time telling me how refreshing my profile is, or how they are laughing so hard or just how much they loved it.

Is a nude avatar a bad thing. OMG OH NOES!!!!

Oh, and thanks for quoting my favorite Rejected, #3. The *SAD* part kills me with laughter every time i read it. Comedy Gold.

Try "bashing" me a little harder, i've grown Ford Tough over the years. :D
