The guardians of Neualtenburg, The Artist's City, are her Hussars. A unit of volunteers who proudly perform their duty: to defend the home of Her Imperial Majesty, Kaiserin Kendra Madelana Bancroft and her citizens, and to uphold Neualtenburg’s virtues of strength and grace.

The idyllic way of life known throughout Neualtenburg and her colonies is however under threat, and now the empire needs its Hussars more than ever. Murmurs from across the sea suggest powerful nations may have designs on seizing Neualtenburg, ‘the jewel of the mainland’, for themselves.

Neualtenburg is calling on you to help defend our land and people from this imminent threat across the sea. By enlisting in The Neualtenburg Hussar Regiment you will not only be assisting in the guardianship of the realm but taking up a position of honour, strength and grace, won’t you answer the call?

As a recruit Hussar you will be given a uniform and instructions on how to obtain a suitable weapon to assist you in your duties. You will then be trained by senior members of the unit in drill, combat tactics and weapons handling. Becoming proficient in your duties may take time so enlisting early is vital for your survival, early enlistees also stand a greater chance of being offered promotion.

On a typical day your duties will consist of training and/or guard duty, but your primary duty will be the defence of the realm, and as a soldier you will be expected to take up arms against Neualtenburg’s enemies should the need occur. This is a demanding but rewarding voluntary position that you will be honoured to hold.

To enlist in The Neualtenburg Hussar Regiment, contact Rittmeister - Jaeger Edelweiss preferably by email: jaeger.edelweiss@gmail.com or IM in world.

But will you have the uniforms from the poster? One has to know these things before you enlist!

Dear Mr. Pearse,

Thank you for your enquiry. Please find attached a picture of the uniform as issued to recruits on completion of their application. Other uniform components such as the Pelzattila (Fur Tunic), Pelzmütze (Busby), Bandolier, Cartouche and Buttons etc, are available for purchase to Husars who complete their training and are promoted Gefreiter.

I should like to add that the Neualtenburg Hussars are run like a working military unit within Second Life. The uniforms are not just freebies I am giving away, and enlistees will be expected to prove they truly wish to participate in unit activities. If you do not want to be involved in a working military unit within Second Life, I implore that you please do not enlist.

In the near future I will be making another Hussar uniform that will be available for purchase, but has nothing to do with the Neualtenburg Hussars (other than its creator). If you would prefer just the uniform without the responsibility, I recommend you wait for the release of this.

Yours Sincerely,

Rittmeister Jaeger Leopold Edelweiss

Very cool, Jaeger!

Caledon, Rose of the Western Sea, rattles its sabre toward Neualtenburg in good sportsmanship!

And by all means we are willing to even out ranks a bit from our own numerous population should it make for a better day on the Field of Honour.

Tea upon the green, the battle, then a pint afterward!

Of course, the Ridiculous Diplomatic Incident hasn't quite happened yet, but we'll cook something up. Or you can - didn't one of you lot serve Caledon Hare to one of our Duchesses or something?

grins

When I was a young boy,
my father took me into the city,
to see a marching band.

He said: Son when you grow up,
will you be the savior of the broken
the beaten and the damned?

He said: will you defeat them,
your demons and all the non-believers,
the plans they have made?

Because one day I leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join the black parade...

*We hope to get some stunning machanima filming accomplished if at all possible and have some great fun. Perhaps not all, but some events and weapons sales will be strongly Relay For Life related - the true fight will be against cancer. Griefers will be shown the door. Interested parties, please turn out and assist Jaeger as best you can!

Well, if it's a diplomatic incident that needs starting, Guv'nah, you're talking to the right Irishman..

I was sitting here working on a spreadsheet, listening to the "Celtic Woman" CD "A New Journey", when the song "Caledonia" played and i thought of this thread :)

NeuAltenburg doesn't have a song about it! :)

To quote from the song:
Let me tell you that I love you
That I think about you all the time
Caledonia, you're calling me, now I'm going home
But if I should become a stranger
Know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia's been everything I've ever had

Dear Ms. Abernathy,

Thank you for your, somewhat off-topic, contribution to this thread, I feel however that I must correct you in your statement "Neualtenburg doesn't have a song about it" as this is simply not the case.

Perhaps it is only known to citizens of Neualtenburg that we have not just one, but two songs that were commissioned specifically for our empire and first used this year on Kaiserintag, the 4th March in our annual calendar. The two pieces, created by talented SL composer Kyle Bronsdon consist of the Neualtenburg National Hymn and “Stärke und Anmut” The Royal Hymn. Both are a tribute to the beauty of our wonderful artist’s community and to the ability of an amazingly skilled musical artist.

I sincerely hope that this information finds you well, and I have cleared up any misunderstandings in regards to the existence of Mr. Bronsdon's fine work.

Warm Regards,

Rittmeister Jaeger Leopold Edelweiss

*cough*

I will merely say that the finest and most Germanic uniform is of little use when one's airship has been downed by cannon fire, and one languishes at <0,0,0> with the remnants of a formerly-piloted craft burning merrily - not to mention having one's prims forcibly inserted into one's arse.

And in order to avoid such a fate, clearly the best recourse is to contact Ordinal Industries, purveyors of the finest combatative technologies known to Gridkind.

I think this is a brilliant recruiting aid. As a lover of pre WW1 German Militaria, Jaegers Virtual interpretation is top notch! I highly endorse This Unit.

Indeed, tis true, an archvillian has stolen key secret maps and plans (and I'm not yet sure what else yet) from the Guvnah's Mansion in Victoria City, brazenly leaving one highly secret map for all to see at the Falling Anvil pub.

I can most certainly confirm the map's accuracy, though twas not for distribution for a long, long time.

Questions abound!
- Was this evil personage working alone, or is he in the employ of others?
- What does he intend to do with this plan?
- Was this done merely to Stir Up Trouble and thus profit off the arms race?
- Does he prefer his ale warm or cold?

Naturally, the knee-jerk reaction has been to blame the Neualtenburgers.

Well, even if they are exhonerated, we'll concoct^H^H^H^H discover any other dread Crimes against our micronation soon enough!

A shaky, nervous peace continues, but the drums grow louder...

(And I would pray that should any merchant capitalise obscenely upon the upcoming events to pls toss a few Caledon Pounds / Pence, or Neualtenburg Gulders / Kreuzen into the Relay For Life charity pot!)

I do apologise, but one does become a little Chaucerian when it occurs, believe me. Peculiarities of the Grid are one thing, but why must they be quite so undignified?

Oh, quite - proceeds from the sales of the flying machines et cie that I have been developing in preparation for war will be sent to said Charitable Pot, I would make that clear. (At such time as I actually stop tinkering and make the dashed things available of course, for heaven's sake Ordinal get a move on before Foreign Agents steal the island out from under our feet.)

If you're going to engage in an arms race, don't forget bombers!

Caledon requires a bomber force that will plod on to targets after all the smaller, more delicate craft are burning rubble on the ground! I've been practicing bombing runs over Caledon with an ancient Da Vinci Screw (helicopter) and two willing assistants with pumpkins. it's a pig to turn, but will hold steady over a target once righted.

"The Bombers will win through" .. to quote Bomber Harris. Ornis are beatutiful and have no small amount of dash-- but we need a strategic bombing force to get the job done!
