Hi-
Near-noob at SL, but this looks like where I want to post....
Here's the thing:
Some associates of mine are big on antiques in particular and on colonial America in general. Not being able to find any centralized resource on the web for such matters, we started Colonial Sense (www.colonialsense.com) to act as a one-stop-shopping site for all things colonial. We have articles, how-to guides, a marketplace, (brand-new) forums, and a bunch of other resources. We're just starting up; haven't made any money yet, though we're actively courting antique dealers and show promoters for advertising revenue. Awhile back, I thought a chat room would be a nice feature to add, and it didn't take long for that thought to gestate into a 3-d chat room, and shortly after that I checked out SL...
However, despite the breadth of SL's areas, there is _nothing_ there about colonial America! I had first thought to cut a deal with a land owner (with a colonial town?) to have a Colonial Sense tavern for chat, and maybe later expand that to include SL shops for RL antique dealers...but there is not a single appropriate place in SL to hook on to...
So, what I'm looking for now is to find a) someone with undeveloped land who also has b) an interest in early American life and/or antiques who'd be interested in a joint venture to develop said land into a colonial village; hey, you'll be the first person in SL to have one!
In exchange I got...well, nothing, except maybe some free advertising on the CS website. Right now, our financial resources are near nonexistent, so up-front payment is a non-starter...however, I would be interested in discussing any sort of profit sharing or some other reasonable compensation in the future, assuming we can make a go of this...
Hopefully, you'll have object-building experience; I don't, but I have done some general 3-d modeling work in the past, so I expect I could pick it up fairly quickly.
Well, that's the gist of my plan/offer/idea. Now that all of the caveats are out of the way, if you're interested in discussing this in more detail, please contact me directly at:
admin [at] colonialsense [dot] com....hope to hear from you!
