Hello everyone,
I just joined SL. I've been wandering around checking things out, and it looks like SL could be quite the good time. It also looks like the things I want to do in it, take money... and quite frankly, going from money tree to money tree is just not fun to me. I was wondering what kind of jobs that are out there that are good for newbies still learning SL. If there are, where I can find one.
I'm also interested in getting involved with construction. Are there any, like, companys out there that would train a new person how to build and allow me to assist on projects until I learn enough to really help out?
Any answers are much appreciated. Thanks

most work in SL is real work. That is, you have to offer a product, skill, or service that other people will pay for. Also, pay in SL is not high. For one example, a cyber hooker might make the equivalent of about $4 US/hour.
So, the easiest thing to do is to *work* in real life, and then use that money in Second Life.
Think of it this way. You are opn vacation when you are in SL, and you need to exhange some money to the local currency. The exchange rate is about L$266/US$1.

Right... I understand that it's much easier to actually buy L$ than working for it. My point of wanting to work for it is for two reasons 1. I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to even like SL 2. I'm wanting to get some entery level work in SL in the things that I'd like to do I'm not looking for a job that I can work a day and go out and buy a custom skin.. as I've learned that those are quite expnsive. I"m more looking for a learning opportunity. If anybody has something like this, then please let me know. I'd also be interested in maybe running games for people if they'd be willing to teach me how to play and run them. That gives me an opportunity to meet people as well. Thanks again Kohl

From: Kohl Basevi Right... Thanks again Kohl Given the conversion rate of USD to L$, it makes more sense to buy the lindens outright, then to spend many hours earning the lindens needed to purchase a skin. Think of it like this, lets say you want a skin that is L$1,200.. you get a job in SL that pays that for 6 hours of work, however when you do the math, this turns out that the skin cost less than USD $5.00, which means you were getting paid about .83 cents an hour to do your 'job' in SL. Now, I completely sympathize with your desire to learn. Of course, there are free learning sites already in SL, such as The Ivory Tower Library of Primitives, for builders.. and I know there are free classes available for pretty much anything else you want to learn. So, basically what I am getting at there is, why offer someone free services to get something in return you could have gotten for free in the first place? You want a job in SL, go with your second point, and find something you like to do, otherwise I can guarantee you that you will not enjoy your time here.
