One to One Interactive's (http://www.onetooneinteractive.com) research firm Quantemo is currently conducting a study assessing levels of consumer engagement with corporate- versus user-generated content in virtual worlds.
We are seeking Second Life users to participate in this study. Participants should already have Second Life accounts and have basic competency in Second
Life (e.g., been in-world multiple times; know how to teleport, use search, buy items from vendors, customize their avatar, and drive vehicles). Note
also that we are seeking participants who use Second Life primarily for entertainment, as opposed to professional or semi-professional uses.
If you agree to participate in the study, we will observe you as you explore two locations in Second Life. As you do so, we will use physiological, neurological, facial interpretation, and eye tracking systems. As you participate, you will be asked to wear a special vest, which measures physiological responses, such as heart rate and respiratory rate. At the end of your explorative sessions, we will collect questionnaire and interview data about your experience.
Participation will remain anonymous. Your personal information, including real life and avatar name and/or identifying characteristics, will not be identified in future reports.
We will be conducting the study in Charlestown, MA on Friday and Saturday, November 9-10, during the hours of 9am to 6pm. The study will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours to complete.
If you are interested in taking part in this research, please provide a brief description of your familiarity with Second Life in an e-mail (send to: jkarnell@onetooneinteractive.com). Your participation will be an invaluable part of our research. All selected research participants will be given $50 after completing their research tasks.
