I have still been in progress designing and scheming the successor to the current open source, web enabled vending system. And it has come to me today, that maybe it would be nice to allow others who share the open source spirit to join in with its development.
I may be a bit ambitious, but this next version would be a real upgrade.
Improved web server design
Mysql databases for Sales, Giftcards, Products, Vendors, and remote administrators
Encryption, as well as authentication
Single web page for authenticated http requests
Improved logging
Improved Vendor design
No need to specifically name prims to get modules to work
Main module no longer has dependencies on most other modules
All can act as either an object server, or client
Module DHCP
Dynamic Variables
Command Stack
Added Remote Administration utility
Make changes to web server or vendors without the need to be in Secondlife or being logged into the web server.
For those willing to help out on such a quest, please keep the following in mind...
You must have a good deal of programming talent and style with php, c#, and lsl. To have a project that involves multiple people, each person must be able to write code that is in compliance with what other people write. If you want to be accepted, do come my way with an example of your own code.
This product is made out of charity. The product will be under the latest GPL License. No one gets paid in l$ or real $. They get paid with the compliments of the users and admirers of this vending system.
I set my sights on the above target. Its cool If we think we can go a bit further, but nothing less than the goals placed above.
Everyone involved will have their names included within the headers of each script shortly before where the gpl licensing text is written.
This is just about as much as I can think for now. If I actually get some interested people, I might decide to set up a private forum for us to communicate in. If I don't get any takers, no biggie, I guess you can't rush progress.
