Considering the skills that it requires and the time that it would took I think that's a lot of work for a 15/20 dollars per month job. Builders and scripters can earn 1000L with only one sale.

You are looking for a builder/scripter/graphic designer/executive assistant/manager/decorator all in one for a few bucks per month... I know this is sl and you can compare it with RL salaries, but this kind of jobs needs a lot of RL time to get done.

This is a question to everyone who's reading this thread: If you have all those skills, would you take this job? Do you think the payment is fair?

This is so cheap as to be hilarious. Really, if this is all you have to spend, either do it yourself or find some friends who will do parts of this job for free because they love you :)

Now I'm confused...

This guy posted for a marketing executive at 1,500L and now an admin. at 1,000L. I'm sorry, but you seem to be clueless about the value of things in both RL and SL terms. I hope whatever your product is doesn't have similar challenges.

I have many of the qualities he/she seeks and no I would never do it for 1000L a week, hell my stipend is half that at 500L a week

it is sad how folks expect RL work, for way less that what the value is

and I soooo hate when ppl say... but it is SL...
SO FREAKING WHAT!!!

It is still time, effort, talent, knowledge... all the same things that are applied to a REAL JOB!

in my opinion a job like this in SL, is a REAL JOB and should be paid as a REAL JOB

AND.....

who in their right mind would give this person their REAL LIFE resume, with REAL LIFE contact, for a measly 1000L a week????

You have to pay me a LOT more than that to give you my previous employers names and information

FIXED!
This is how you treat someone who you want to do everything for you. These are some good examples of prices that will get you the skill you require and the loyalty that your growing business needs.

A starting salary of about $366 USD/week
A permanent bonus that gives you $402 USD/week after the 1st week.

This income ($300 - $400 USD) MIGHT mean somethig to someone in SL who is spending most of their day in front of their own computer in their own home working for YOU (depending on how many hours they are working). 1000L ($3.61) is (loss of words). Think about it. If you had these skills would YOU do these tasks for $3.61 per week?

These positions are not usually handled by one person in the real world (building AND placing furniture? Scripting objects AND creating graohics? Administrative tasks?) If someone has all of these skills, I do not think they would be working for anyone else, but instead building their OWN business in SL. You are asking for a completely self-sufficient SL guru basically and to offer only 1000L per week is an insult to the intelligence of anyone who posesses any ONE of these skills.

To my mind there are two levels of ecomony in SL, play jobs and real jobs and people get confused (as I did at first). If you are going to pay someone L$1000/week, this should indicate a play job. Being a greeter at a club or a model or some such glamorous fantasy job. This should be light and fun for the employee. They play at being a greeter, or a model or whatever for enough money to buy some nice clothes. This is not to dismiss the value a good greeter brings to a business. The point is that it should be a pleasant passtime for the employee and the modest lindens they earn for modest SL needs is a fun bonus.

Scripting, graphic design and building are another matter entirely. These take time and skill to do well and should be paid accordingly. This is real work and deserves to be paid in the range of 7-15 USD or more per hour.

Paying an employee fairly for they work they do brings dignity to both the employee and the employer.

And while I am on my soapbox I will add this. It seems to me that some people who have never done creative work or technical work have no clue on how much time and effort it takes to do quality work and how very hard that person has already worked developing those skills. The builders, clothing designers, scriptors, sculptie makers and graphic designers are valuable and the community needs to pay them for their time, effort and skill.

I might consider doing it for the graphics, photography around signs, layouts, advertisement graphics and related object textures only but I am not able to do skins or anything in that area. The reason why I am able to do this for whole less is then most Graphic Artist Pro's would charge because I am still learning and only thing I care about is having upload money for my own Art and Texture uploads.
Yet if you require complex texture mapped object this might get really expensive and I would lose whatever I make just trying to figure it out with uploads.
If you want all of the above I don't think I could do it personally.
There are people who do things for fun and for non-profit reasons but from experience they won't run your business, make you real life money or even be able to be reliable 100 percent of time in whatever ways you want without some major incentive.
Anyone who doing things strictly for money wouldn't do everything you requested for that little.

Holy crap...all that for 1000L a week? Sorry, and no offense meant, but any respectable builder/scripter/graphics artist would pass that offer over immediately. I know the building alone would take a good day (at least) to set up a decent office, and that shouldn't even be the EA's job.

I build for the companyt I work for (partly on my own, partly paid), but its good money. Rethink that ad and maybe you will find someone you need.

Good luck!

And yet another point to add to the already overloaded mix:

$1500L does not at all equate to RL dollars in cost per item or in what you could spend that on here in SL. I know I've paid $800L for a dress and $1000L for what amounts to makeup. Interestingly enough, diamond necklaces cost about as much as a pair of jeans here but velvet capes are cheaper than in RL. Make of that what you will.

As with all things SL, the value of everything is directly proportional to the skills involved that it takes to produce it.

Which is the driving point behind any economy, in the end.

I pay my store manager who does the majority of what this position is asking for a RL income.
I guess it depends on what the company earns.
I would of added that the persons wage would reflect the companies growth of profits
This gives the employee an incentive to work hard, bring new ideas to the table and treat the business as though it was their own ( although No One will run your business as well as you do )

I pay well because I treat my business as a real business because it IS I pay taxes, lawer fees, marketing fees, its trade marked, and as such anyone I want on my books I expect them to treat it the same.

Many people come into SL with an attitude of " its just a game " and yet this attitude is conveniently forgotten when they want to sell their L$ for real cash.

How many people do you think are TAX registered in SL?
I'm willing to bet less than 5%
I personally know many who arent paying taxes on the couple of hundered dollars they earn a month.

Sooner or later the tax goverment WILL catch up SL is big news now and just as ebay was hit hard with VAT and TAX a few yrs ago I suspect SL will also be , you only have to take into consideration the new Europe VAT on land fees to see goverments are already taking a keen interest in the livings of SL residents.

OK thats besides the point * stands down off soap box * lol

I think regardless or whether any business is " real " or " virtual " when the currency has a real life value and that same currency is encouraged to be cashed out for real money by the makers of SL you HAVE to treat you business as a real entity and that includes paying wages that reflect the success of your company.
