I use winamp, oddcast and icecast to diffuse already. But I never had more than 5 listeners at the same time and quality was good.

Depends on what quality you broadcast at and your upload bandwidth.
If you broadcast at 64kb/s (8KB/s), for 20 people you need 1280kb/s (160KB/s) upload. At 96kb/s (12KB/s) you need 1920kb/s (240KB/s). So unless your upload is at least 1mb/s, you'll need to reduce quality, reduce the number of listeners or rent a higher bandwidth relay. That's assuming you stream from your home connection. If you already rent a relay server, you should be able to find figures on the maximum quality/listeners they allow somewhere in your account pages or activation email. _____________________

I can see my transfert rate is about 75 kps max (without listeners) it,s drop about 64kps also.
If I understand well.. I need an additional stream of 160kps for 20 persons and I will not lose quality? Thanks ![]() KaRoBelZ McMahon |

75KB/s (big B is kilobytes) would manage 9 listeners at 64kb/s (little b is kilobits).
You could manage 15 listeners at 40kb/s, which is what I use on my station for acceptable quality. You can hear the tunes fine, but nobody will be convinced they are listening to a CD. If you absolutely have to cover 20 simultaneous listeners, then you'll need to rent a relay stream. Just search google for "shoutcast rental" or "icecast rental". _____________________

Yup as Sys above says, if you are looking to stream to move than your usual 5 listeners then probably easiest to rent an external shoutcast stream, then you don't have to worry about bandwidth.
