The SL club scene gets old fast. Same boring events (best in blue, best in leather, best hair.... ad nauseum), same appeal for tips for hosts and dancers (and for what exactly?), same obnoxious gestures...... and very little real interaction.

We're a group that likes to have chat, laugh, and have fun -- and we're completely bored with the SL club scene. But we do want to meet and get to know new people.

Join us every Thursday at 6:30pm-SL at Outeniqua Forest where we gather around the fireplace for friendly chat and lots of laughs. Our conversations are informal, fun and anything goes. And we will never ask for your money -- there is no one to tip here.

Voice chat is preferred, but not required. All are welcome and everyone will be respected.

If you have questions, IM Jero OKina or Sam Zimminy. Otherwise, see you Thursday!

Is it some kind of " camp fire " cult???
I mean.. I am not lost...nor do I need a shepard lol Joke ...but I agree with the clubs..I miss chatting to ppl, the only thing I get to talk about is textures in SL whether its with customers or artists..so I went to a couple of clubs and I felt like a wall flower.. dancing on my own etc..didnt know anyone...

My fault i guess for not "getting out there" but my job prevented me from having any kind of social life..or at least it did...not so much now ppl dont IM me like they used to thanks to the store tools etc.

I met my my rl fella online in the TSO...and I would love to meet more ppl...but SL is so big and I feel so small now..once over SL was a smaller community and ppl would recognise you when you TP in..now ppl in my own store dont recognise me! lol

Funny and sad.

Camp fire cult <---LOL

Yeah, the clubs were fun for awhile and people were friendly... but after a bit it was just the same old thing night after night. We made a good core group of friends... but we're always looking to meet other people.

We're just soooo bored with themed events and tipping pole dancers to see naked pixels... and nobody really talking...

It's GREAT to have a good group who have fun and like to really talk. We hope others will join us!

Well, that URL isn't working... so if you want to come, join the group CLUB ALTERNATIVE and you'll be kept informed of locations that we meet.

LillyBeth-
When I see you in your store, yes of course I know who you are! I just don't say Hi or anything because I assume you are busy.

How does one meet folks in the "new larger SL"
10-15-2008 06:15
Having been in SL since beta (under a different avie) I have found like previous posters that the scene has changed.

I didnt really meet folks for a year and now I am back in world on a regular basis finding like minded folks for chatting and learning things together is not easy. there seems to be very few focal areas where one can go to chat to folks. The club scene used to fill this gap but as this has now disappeared to a greater extent where do folks go?

What I hate about the club scene..

You get Hoooooooooooooooooooooo soon as you land...

Damn Gestures that fill my screen with some stuipid ass truck or some Neko using the howling gesture with a wolf..

A group invite before the club rezzes

A dancer with lame emotes saying tip me tip me tip me

A DJ talking over the lyrics of your favorite song

A group tag required to vote in a contest.. I can't do this cause my groups are full and I can't drop one for some club that will spam me to death with all their announcments etc.. I have to save group slots for my vendor locations... So I just take my money else where..

Events are getting played out and OLD OLD OLD.. if you are a true club promoter come up with something new and exciting..

I try to but people don't show up to NEW stuff... they only like same old boring 'Maybe I can TP in enough people to vote for me and win 200L' events.

When I try something new they don't show up. :(

You can't just try something "once" you have to try it a few times to give it a fair chance.. Most TV Shows, Music are not judged by one viewing.. A successful club takes time.. Most will give up in the first week.. End events early etc..

What I like about the club scene is that I don't feel like I have to go if I don't want to, only to later gripe about how I hate it. I can hang out with my friends or go to the Voice Escort club where I dance and strip and make a at least $75USD a week without using lame emotes or ask for tips.

This 'Club Alternative' is a good idea but folks will still continue to do the status quo.

Where are the events?
12-01-2008 18:41
I just logged on to SL after a year. I clicked on the events menu only to find that there aren't any events anymore, just tons and tons of ads. SL used to have strict guidelines for what was and wasn't an event. If there was a legitimate event worth going to in that mess I was looking at yesterday, I didn't have the patience to sift through it.

Hey Karen, I just might do that. I too am bored with the club scene. Now, my partner and I mostly attend live music venues. A dear friend of mine just opened up a new club and just like the rest, they are having the same best in this best in that contest.

So I'm going to give you a try when my partner returns to sl from rl trip.

Honestly, the club scene is there to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Your mostly going to attract newer players that are just looking for a easy way to enter a social area, talk to people, have fun and get some advise and lindens. Every few months I see a olbie or a Linden on my dancefloor - but those folks are just tired of working and are stretching their virtual legs.
