Grand Opening: Siann Beck Gallery

Siann Beck Gallery will celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, August 9, 2008, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM SLT.

Located in the tropical island sim of Petropolis, Siann Beck Gallery is the proprietor's first foray into the art world. The focus of this gallery is new art and new artists. None of the work exhibited has ever been seen in SL before, and with one exception, none of the artists were Residents in SL prior to being contacted by Ms. Beck. The intention is to bring in new talent, to build and enhance the SL artistic community, while at the same time exposing the artists to creative avenues previously unknown to them.

Ms. Beck states, "I am passionate about new things -- making new connections, getting people to see things they've never seen before, or to see things in ways they never have before. My greatest reward is when somebody meets or sees someone or something new and the light of inspiration goes on. This is what I hope for, with this gallery."

Six very talented artists have been selected for the opening:

Cristi Cain
Ms. Cain is a photographer and model living in Clearlake, Texas. Dealing mainly in nudes, with an edgy, high-contrast style, Cristi is often the subject of her own photos.

Muriel Cayet
Ms. Cayet specializes in abstract paintings with a gentle, flowing aspect. Residing in Paris, France, she is currently studying the use of art as therapy.

Al Curtis
Mr. Curtis is a computer programmer and amateur photographer residing in Battle Creek, Michigan. His interest in photography from an early ages shows in his clear, beautiful scenic and nature photos.

Norman Engel
Mr. Engel specializes in contemporary paintings of women, also occasionally producing still lifes and landscapes. He resides in Houston, Texas, where he holds a teaching position at The Art Institute of Houston.

Rod Outback
Saying only that he lives in "The Outback, Australia", Rod produces some truly breathtaking landscape photos, showcasing the sheer beauty of that untamed land.

Mark Varley
Mr. Varley is an established professional photographer, specializing in fine art nudes. He resides in London, England.

Additionally, SL sculptors Apollo Reinard and Debbie Trilling have graciously provided installations for the gallery.
