This year, Relay For Life will be held July 18th -19th and will have as many as 37 design and teamsite sims. The RFL Design Team of Stella Costello and Charlene Trudeau would like SL designer/builders to consider volunteering to be part of the RFL Design and Build Team. There will be both full sims and smaller sites available to showcase your skills.
Below are the categories where designer/builders are needed;
Design Teams:
This year we will need at least 12 designers (or design teams). Designers are responsible for creating a full sim experience within the RFL theme. This position requires an enormous level of commitment, talent, and dedication to your project and the RFL event. Designers (teams) will need to be confident and capable builders, texture artists, and scripters with a strong ability to work independently on their project with minimal intervention from the Design committee.
We are also looking to have at least one designer or team willing to create a "back-up" project that would be used in the event of an emergency or a cancellation from one of the other teams. This specific role requires a sheer heart of gold and a brave willingness to create something fantastic that we might not have the privilege of using.
Optionally, please let us know your initial design concept ideas for possible designs on the theme 'One World, One Hope'. We are looking for ideas that capture the essence, the reality and scale of the real or imaginary worlds they represent and truly give us a world to call our own for a brief and unforgettable moment in time.

Event/Venue Designers:
Event/Venue Designers will be responsible for creating specific builds that will be used for RFL functions, such as 24/7 live events and music performances. These events are hugely attended and designers will need to understand the special precautions that must be made for large events. These designers will largely be working with a committee member or a concept chosen by the Events committee, so they will need to have an ability to collaborate and work creatively within a scope of required elements.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RFL Imagineers:
This is the perfect position for someone with a lot of creativity and design experience in Second Life, but with a smaller amount of time to give to the relay design project. Imagineers will be able to participate in design by offering their scripting, building, and texturing services to various other teams and designers as needed. As these needs arise, Imagineers will be notified and allowed to commit to the small project(s) that fit their unique skills and personal schedule. Projects assigned to Imagineers will include the Survivor's Camp and Hope Lodge. Other tasks might include helping RFL Teams with their team campsite builds.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Track/Infrastructure Crew:
Building roads in Second Life is a specific skill that requires great attention to the overall scope of the RFL design. The Track Crew works the hardest in the week leading up to Relay. The members of the Track Crew will be responsible for designing a prim efficient and beautifully textured road that is cohesive and unifying over approximately 37 sims. The Track Crew will also be responsible for various build elements located throughout the Relay sims such as signage, the 18 starting points, vendors for RFL gadgets, clear defining of the routes and helpful enticements for leaving the track to explore the team campsites and builds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Emergency Designers:
This group of designers will respond to last minute cancellations for other design teams, any crisis that involves building, texturing, or scripting (not all of these skills are required, we need a mixed selection in this team). In the event of an emergency, this team will step in as individuals or as a whole team to save us all.
If you are interested in volunteering your time and skills in any of the above categories, please contact Stella Costello or Charlene Trudeau in-world and attach a notecard titled "RFL Design Team Application" with the following information.
