Wil has mentioned eventful.org on his blog several times (that's where I first heard of it), and has indicated that it's a good way to request appearances from him. Considering that going into SL doesn't involve a plane trip and a hotel stay - not to mention the high geeky-coolness factor - I think it stands a decent chance of success.
(No, I haven't e-mailed him to ask. He has better things to do than to read thousands of individual e-mails asking him to do this or that event. Doing it this way, he can see how much popular support he has for the idea.)
