On Sunday June 10th The Forum BDSM Community Sim will be putting on an all day Relay For Life Carnival/Fundraiser. ALL of the proceeds will go to the Relay For Life foundation in Second Life.
We will have Carnival rides and kissing booths and dunking booths and street vendors... all the elements of a fabulous street fair. We have no set monetary goal, the goal is just to raise as much as possible.
One of the ways in which we are doing this, is auctioning off only six street vendor spots in the highest traffic area of the carnival. This is a big deal as Forum Sim has always made a point in the past of never allowing anything commercial on the sim. Our over 700 active members will no doubt be excited to be able to shop at the place where they hang out the most.
This is bound to be a huge event. The last time Forum members decided to open their wallets for a good cause we filled the sim and met our estimated monetary goal and then DOUBLED IT!
Here's the way it works.....
We are going to set up only six vendor tents in a prime location on the sim, right along the main walking path, for two weeks ... one week leading up to the carnival, the day of the carnival naturally, and leave them for one week after the carnival. This is a great opportunity for vendors to tap into a fairly large group of new customers and perhaps build some loyal fans.
This is going to be a silent auction and the deadline for entry is midnight June 2nd, which will allow the winning vendors to set up Sunday June 3rd or any time after that.
Entering the silent auction is very simple... just send Allana Dion an IM stating your bid amount... that is how much you'd be willing to pay to set up in one of the vendor tents. The top six highest bids will win. ALL the money the vendors pay will go directly into the Relay For Life kiosk set up at Forum. In fact if you wanted to be absolutely certain it goes where it is intended to go, you can even arrange a time to come to Forum and pay the kiosk yourself, though the time does have to be arranged so that I can be there as well.
The six winning vendors will be announced in the event posting for the carnival and in any press releases afterwards.
It is not required that any sales you make during the two week period your vendor tent will be displayed have to go to RFL, though that is of course an option and appreciated .... but as I said, certainly NOT a requirement.
