Hello my finely-meshed friends...

Just wanted to post a quick thread informing everyone it is time again for the once-a-month, 48hr "NOT JUST ANOTHER" Texturing Competition!

Here's the deal: once a month, either myself or a guest artist creates a model for the event--this model is left untextured (they are always super high quality, designed by professional cg artists). The contestants grab a copy of the model on the start date (Friday) and turn it in at the deadline (Sunday). After we've received all entries, the models are placed on display in the "NJA" Gallery and the judges stroll around tallying up their votes (top three). Finally, we hold an awards ceremony and mixer later that evening. In addition, the winner has their model displayed until the following month in the winner circle, and has a wonderful poster created of them (and they go on the 'Past Winners' Wall of Fame).

This competition is really picking up steam, and we are getting some super talented artists involved--not to mention some very distinguished judges.

This is a very professional competition, and we strive to bring in all walks of life and all levels of talent. And if bettering your craft or meeting awesome talent isn't enough, how's L3000 for first place sound? Second and third place aren't anything to sneeze at either.

If you are interested (this month's model is very cool), swing by the "NOT JUST ANOTHER" event gallery, have a look around, grab an info & sign up sheet, and take a look at the model you'll be working from on the 28th if you see fit to enter the competition.

Thank you everyone. We'll show you the money, if you show us your texturing skills.

(PS. all finished models belong to the contestants--"NJA" will not sell them. Each contestant can do with their model what they want.)

Hosted by Glowbox Designs, and sponsored by V3 Group & TRU Textures.

My post got moved.

I find it odd how persnickety forum moderators are. This event is all about texturing...for texture artists...and I placed it in the Texturing forum.

I see people multiple post all the time. I only put mine in one sub-forum. And my post wasn't just telling of the event, it was explaining and sharing to all those interested in texturing about the event. I think a board on Texturing Tips is perfect for this.

I mean come on. Of all the crap out there, and in here...I get moved. I guess I'm going to have to game the forums like every other cat out there, and word my posts to match the sub-forum (i.e. Resident Answers/General Discussion).

The forum was "Texturing Tips"? I personally did not see any tips in your post.
Maybe that's why it got moved. I think you explained it yourself.

Events go in forums that are made for "Events".
Your yada yada texturing contest is an EVENT.

Can't be more easy to understand than that.

Right. Thank you for stating the obvious. However, I was being more abstract. My competition is geared towards texture artists--those interested in texturing. That's why I placed it there (and only there).

It doesn't take a scientist to figure my reasoning out. Basically, with all due respect, seeing the myriad crap that moves through these forums every hour...I think a professionally crafted event like this shouldn't get moved because it doesn't perfectly fit the sub-forum's description. Don't get me wrong, I understand, but I'm just saying...

How's this for a tip: if you're interested in texturing, and would like to better your craft, it is a good idea to take part is said event.

Good day to you. :) Shake on it?

Thank you for stating the obvious.

If that's so obvious then why were you confused?
