In Germany Xmas is on Dec 24. So to make the time more joyful and exciting (mostly for kids), people get to open one door of the calendar per day. Some Xmas calendars have chocolates in it, some have tiny toys to play with. Whatever the Xmas calendar contains, it should be fun and an enjoyment to receive a small present each day until Xmas.
