The South Seas Sailing Cooperative is now forming. The purpose of the Cooperative is to allow estates owned by like minded persons to physically join sims together on the grid for the purpose of sharing waters and the air space above it. There will be a cooperative agreement that is now in draft form. Estate owners interested in joining will be able to contribute their ideas as the agreement is finalized.
The cooperative will be democratic. Owners of the estates within the cooperative area will have a voice in the running of it. They will periodically elect a board that will serve for a limited term and govern the day to day running of the cooperative within a limited capacity defined by the cooperative agreement. However any substantial changes will be voted on by all estate owners.
The cooperative is a non profit entity and does not require any membership fees to join. However member Estate Owners may through the democratic governing process elect to have an assessment should they decide on funding any joint ventures such as the purchase of water sims to add to the cooperative or the hiring of an administrator to take care of paperwork etc.
Estate owners will continue to own their own estates, pay their tiers directly to the Lindens and be able to govern them as they wish within the general guidelines of the cooperative agreement.
