This works as follows:
1) You buy a tier package from me (by paying the appropriate amount)
2) You invite me to the group where you want me to add the tier
3) I donate the land tier allowance to the group
4) You buy the land and deed it to the group (or use the "Buy for Group" button in the "About Land" dialogue box)
5) I will maintain the tier contribution for as long as you keep buying the monthly packages.
There is absolutely no risk for you: I will never ever visit your land; I don't even need to know where your land is. All you see from me is group membership and a tier contribution to the group. If you want to, you may set up a group role just for me with no rights whatsoever.

You may ask what's in it for me here? Well, given the tier bracket I am in, I do have a couple of 1000 sq more tier than I need. I pay the same to LL no matter whether I use it or not. So why not help out somebody who needs it and who may save some money this way? At the same time, whatever is rented out helps me offsetting my tier fee. So ... it's a classical win-win situation!
