Hi,
I'm new to SL and I'm looking around at land to buy/rent/lease,depends on the size and cost. Hope that this isn't going to tick people off, as I've not looked through the forum for this particular topic, as I only heard about Class type last night.
If so ,then I apologize in advance if it has been covered already.
I've heard and also seen land 'classified' as Class 4...Class 5 etc. Can somebody please explain what is meant by this, as to what 'Class' means. Does it stop you from building certain types of properties etc. What is the lowest classification and what is the highest. Also do you have limitations put on you when you buy/lease/rent this type of land. I've read some of the Covenants on some land and they seem to be so 'tied' up with stipulations. It's like a 'virtual minefield' when getting land. I've read the tier structure Linden Labs has in place. That I can understand, to a degree, but does it also mean that if land is 'protected' and you buy that land or near/next to it, you pay a higher price for it or more on the Tier Level? Or does it mean that 'Protected Land' cannot be built on, and that Linden Labs wants to keep it clear so they can put what they want on it?
Hope I've made myself clear on this as I'd love to know what the best land would be to buy. I'm in a group and we want a nice plot of land to develop if we can do this.

Hope to get feedback from you lovely people in SL. So far I've had a great time and no hassle from people here... unlike another place I use.
