To celebrate my heritage, I will be releasing an Áo dài on Tết, the Vietnamese New Year. Not to be confused with the Chinese cheongsam, the Áo dài (which translates to “long dress” in English) is the national costume of the Vietnamese people. The Áo dài has a long cultural history, worn by the royalty in silk and completely covered in fine hand embroidery, as wedding gowns, and as simple cotton school uniforms for children.

Now about that giveaway contest …

Guess which animal will be featured on this dress to win every GIANETTI item sold at the main store. Entries MUST be in the form of a notecard titled in the format “Tet Contest_Your Name_Your Animal Prediction” to be accepted. Only one entry per person or risk disqualification. GIANETTI will not be held liable for acts of nature, god, or the lag monster that prevents your entry from being received. If no entry is correct, GIANETTI will chose one or several winners on a whim. Contest closes Thursday February 7, 2008 at 11:59 PM PST/SLT or earlier that day when the dress is revealed at the main store.
