If you've played any of the episodes in the Silent Hill franchise, you'll probably be able to appreciate this to some degree.

The graphics are top notch, as well as the sounds/soundtrack.

It's a mouse-click interactive flash project that takes you through 99 rooms.

You have to do a little 'pixel hunting' on some of the rooms, but you'll find the next step eventually. (if you get stuck, and feel frustrated, press spacebar - you can see icons for all the rooms and make your way to the next one).

Sometimes you have to click somewhere, sometimes you just mouse-over something, sometimes you click and move the mouse, etc. Experiment with it. It's fun.

Put the headphones on if you have 'em. And turn up the sound. Very moody.

If anyone clicks that link, they loose at teh interwebs, simple as that. They should have their ISP-privledges revoked and sent back to grade school.

Hint: It screams at you or otherwise startles/shocks you.

I know more than one forum where posting a link to those gets you an automatic suspension.

Huh?

Edit: Wait. You don't think it's one of those stupid images that suddenly screams at you do you? (This edit was said before you edited your post to add the "hint" )

I swear it isn't. Honest. There are some surprising rooms (and I admit I haven't been through them all), that have stuff happen suddenly. But it's nothing like what I think you're thinking of.

Dude. Please don't sh!t can this thread because you suspect that's the case. Look, try it. If it's what you think. Confirm it here, AR me, and I'll personally AR myself.

If it doesn't do what you accuse me of doing, I would appreciate an apology.

Reitsuki,

You forthwith have your ISP privileges revoked.

It is quite genuine, and is a very curious - thing. Mind you, I think the game itself, by specifically asking you to turn up your volume on the splash screen, is giving the wrong impression. Still, I got through about six rooms without misadventure.

Nice combination of photography, art, sound and ambience. Thanks for the link!
I simply can not understand why some judge things without even looking at it first.

Edit : My favourite room is room 44!

You're welcome!

And I have to agree on #44. That one stuck out in my head, as I wasn't expecting that kind of interaction.

I made it through all 99 finally. Will probably go through it again sometime as I'm sure I've missed out on subtle details here and there.

Glad you enjoyed. :)

I will say the link is legit, and to that extent I will issue an apology for claiming it was a screamer.

That said, I won't appologise for the basic assumption, because 99.99% on the internet when you are linked to a flash animation with the phrase "use your headphones" or "turn up the speakers", it's exactly that.

As for why I judge things? See above. And I have a *very* weak tollerance for things like that... I react very poorly to severe shocks, to the point I take great pains in my life to avoid any chance of them. Hence why I take such things so personally.

*edit* That said, after Room 26 I'm going to have to put it away... I can't take things like that.

I have to agree about room 26.. now that I know what to expect I can get past it, but i'd like to know if I should expect any additional rooms like that. If there are, can anyone tell me which they are so that I can be ready for when the shock is supposed to happen?

Well I've been through all the rooms, and I can't honestly remember if there's anything else similar to that. Then again, room 26 didn't startle me.

I guess I could go replay it, come back here, and write out some room by room description. But I don't think I'll do that.

The element of surprise was what made it fun for me, and I don't think I'd be doing it any justice if I wrote a walkthrough for this.

If anyone wants to write a guide for all the rooms, please distribute it somewhere else (like in a PM for Crystal or others), and refrain from posting 'spoilers' in here.

It seemed like Myst meets Cronenberg. Is this hypercard retro-gaming? I'm serious but also tragically unhip.

What an effect... it strongly reminded me of taking the 'ridiculously long way' home as an errant child, exploring such places with adolescent friends.

A powerful artist, to be sure.

But also reminding me that some of the art in SL is equally brilliant, too.

We may well have a resident artist or two in SL today, whose name will echo down the centuries.

thanks for pointing us to this masterpiece.

the best way for me to share what i gained from getting through to not only the 99th room, but the 100th and the 101st as well, is to share what i left in the guestbook.

From: Cybin Monde
an incredible and awe-inspiring project. beautiful atmospheres seeping amongst vibrations to alight upon the folds of my grey matter.

superb.

if you haven't done so, i suggest making your way through all the rooms without using the spacebar.. not sure what that does, because i never used it, but still.. it takes some patience in a few rooms that take a while to show you the way, but i found it well worth the experience.

very inspiring.. i feel like creating something now!

There isn't anything in the league of Number 26 (that I've found, I doubt I've seen everything), there are a few shocking ones, which I can PM you if you want. They're are some earie ones that you really expect to shock you, but they don't for the most part.

I do, however, feel like I've been brainwashed.

My favs are 64, 59, 84, and 97.

Ok, I played it all the way through this time, and theres nothing in the league of 26.

Altho I still doubt I've seen everything, as it seems to let/make you skip things some times, and not others.

Being a graffiti artist and visiting any possible abandonned stuff in my region, you just totally made my day and I have no idea why I never saw/visited this before.
It is uber inspiring, thank you so very much for sharing the link.
And please people, stop saying it's a game. LOL I was sooo misleaded that I almost didn't visit it. It has nothing to do with a game where you have to do stuff to move on.
It's just interacting pictures with graffitis that are clickable, made with flash. ART!!
Masterpiece. HI5!! *you MUST bookmark*

Thanx for sharing, Gladius--I'm shocked I haven't heard of this before. It's shaping up to be my kinda thing! I liked Introvert's description a lot. :)
