This is easy to explain; the researchers were attempting to induce lupus in their test mice and everyone knows that lupus is also a term for the condition of being a werewolf and, as everyone also knows, werewolves heal incredibly quickly. These researchers obviously have a large collection of weremice and are unaware of it simply because the mice have always been kept inside the laboratory and have never been exposed to the light of the full moon. :p

Waitaminnut.. I read this story a few weeks ago but the earlier story had one major difference. The mice weren't discovered in 1998. The story said they weren't sure about the longevity of the mice since they have a normal lifespan of a little over 2 years and it hadn't been that long since the discovery...

Gotta love the media.

Also, the other story mentioned the fact all tissue could regrow except brain tissue so that would mean you could live for 150years but the last 70 as a drooling idiot or perfectly healthy vegetable.
