I hope she doesn't move it. She works really hard and shouldn't have to be a forum babysitter. Every 5 minutes a Linden spends in the forums is 5 minutes they don't spend on helping the actual metaverse.

Since this thread is indirectly related to SL forum policy, and since forum policy is discussed in the General forum, I say it doesn't get moved. ;)

Point well made. It's good to help each other out, the world has so many troubles today... it can be such a sad place.

I sometimes wonder how Jeska personally feels about this. Of course, she has to be professional on here, but I just don't like seeing more problems made when we haven't solved so many of them. :(

The number of problems which arise on the forum will be distributed according to a Rayleigh Distribution. Whether or not we feel this thread is a problem which may or may not take time from her in-world time is thus irrelevant. It is but one click in a mathematically inevitable distribution of clicks she will have to make as long as the entities which use this board are humans.

As for skewing the maximum likelihood of the Rayleigh Distribution through a steady stream of purposely misfiled posts, I will admit that would be wrong. However, I feel this post is acceptable given that it is but a single post coming on the heels of several high-profile discussions of whether or not the moderators were moving too many threads to other forums.

Witty and timely is something I'm sure even Jeska can appreciate at least once even if it is at the expense of a mouse click.

Moved to Off-Topic, please don't start threads with no purpose, or start them in Off-Topic, which was designed specifically to house such threads.

BTW - Whoever said Right Now "wins".

I admire the sense of humor and bonhomie that you bring to your moderation. I can't speak for the rest of the community, but I know that it makes me feel warm and fuzzy and does so much to further the community spirit that these forums are intended to foster.

BTW As you were the one who said "Right Now", you win. Congratulations!

But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

Am I the only one who has "show 30 posts per page" turned on??

There is even an option to show more. I always get lost when people refer to pages instead of post number. haha :p

This ridiculous thread not withstanding, there is a reason why that theory for genreal forum posts is flawed. When a troll makes a post with the intent of starting flame-like discussion it becomes news (shows up on blogs, web papers, etc). Once it becomes news, other people are interested in what is going on in thier company. So instead of 1 little mouse-click from the person who's job it is to monitor questionable forum posts, all of the developers, the VP and sometimes even the Prez takes the time to click. All of that clicking adds up to time not spend working on the metaverse.

Think about it. How ridiculous is it that Robin, VP of Linden Lab, sometimes has to respond to posts. Everytime she needs to use time and brain power to reply to a post, is time she can't use to manage, umm... say Havok 2.

I'd agree this thread is mostly harmless, however when Jeska has to say to other liasons "Avatar X is really on purpose, pushing my button can you give me advice or tell me if I'm doing something wrong"... then they all check... adding a multiplier to your elegant Rayleigh Distribution.

Let's play games in world... and leave the forums for honest discussion.

I laugh at your puny probability. LAUGH I TELL YOU.

The Rayleigh Distribution includes this "multiplier" that you're describing.

Also, would you like us to close all the other fun threads in the forum, such as:
  1. Movie Title Match Game
  2. 3 Word Thread Reborn
  3. Word Association Game
  4. Picture Wars : A Game
  5. GAME: Post pictures from other online worlds!
  6. Word Change Game
  7. * THIS OR THAT * (game)
  8. Name that Nerd / Geek / Dork - GAME!
  9. The Great Imitator Game
  10. New Game - The Name Game
  11. Phrase Game
  12. 3 Word, Question, Association GAME
  13. The Bible Game Returns!
  14. Movie Quote Game Thingy....
  15. Science Fiction Book game
  16. Word Hunt game

In short, time-varying, statistically distributed workloads and superfluous forum games are natural features of a forum. I would even argue that forum games are a valuable part of our on-line culture and should be celebrated and even encouraged. I don't think that there was a person who read this that didn't smile when they saw Jeska's response. :D
