Every decent person should take the time to watch this film.

I don't think anyone is ever completely innocent, twisted beliefs and naivety on all sides here. But there's no excuse that can justify the existence of this place. No excuse on the planet will convince me we're right to do this to people, no matter what they did to us. What a perfect excuse these prisoners now have to justify their belief system, just imagine the fireside stories that'll get told if they're ever released alive.

There's no excuse, none.

Well done Channel 4 for yet again having the courage to deal with a controversial subject.

Quote from the review
"The Road To Guantánamo opens with archive footage of George W Bush, flanked by a stern-faced Tony Blair, declaring his certain knowledge that all the detainees held in Guantánamo are "bad people". Everything that follows is designed to turn these words inside out, as three young British Muslims tell the story of how they came to be in US custody at Guantánamo for over two years, and discuss the Kafkaesque horrors that awaited them there, until finally they were released without charge or apology."

I haven't watched the film yet, but I just want to add to discussion: My understanding is that not a single individual has died as a result of their detainment at Gitmo.

Is that the litmus test?

aww that is sweet

being water boarded until you think you are going to die and pass out doesn't kill you

it just makes you stronger
