This must be why my cat stares at the refrigerator door for hours on end.

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.
I had the pleasure of experiencing James Turrell's GasWorks which if you have an opportunity to see, please do. Aside from being just plain trippy and cool, it allows one to experience the sensation of "bright darkness" (defies explanation) and to see the propogation of light sensation through your retinal ganglia. On a related note, here's one to try at home: on a day of a clear blue sky, stare at a patch of blue (not the sun, that's Bad). After a little while you will see small translucent disks moving in ordered lines across your field of vision. Those are blood cells moving through the capillaries that cover the surface of your retina. It may take a few minutes to see them the first time, but once you do, you'll usually see it instantly thereafter. _____________________

Are you sure about that. I was told the crap floating around inside our eyes is what's left of a small blood vessel that used to feed our eyes when we were in the womb.

Are you sure about that. I was told the crap floating around inside our eyes is what's left of a small blood vessel that used to feed our eyes when we were in the womb. What makes the blood cells distinct from floaters is that they appear translucent, are disc shaped, line up nicely in capillary rows and "throb" in pace with your heartbeat. If you have floaters they will typically appear like a slow moving singular dust spec. Floaters are usually harmless, but if they suddenly appear they could be a sign of retinal degeneration or detachment, see a physician unless you dig blindness. _____________________
