Yah. They finished filming, but this is the sound stage where they're currently editing. :(

Apparantly, Brosnan was closest to Flemming's original idea of Bond, but Connery was the best.

I think it would have been cool if the studios wouldn't have taken Quintin Terrintino's (sp) idea to make Casino Royale, and instead would have let Quintin make the next bond film with Brosnan as the main star. He wanted it to take place during the time the book was written, and you know it would have been a great movie--he would have probably even used cameras and cinematography methods from that period as well. To me, trying to force a plot designed for a certain time period to be modernized just doesn't work. I think after about 1982, the way that times changed just couldn't quite fit into the feel of the books--they basically have to rewrite the whole thing, and then it might as well not be a bond film anymore. It's like trying to make a movie about gangsters wearing zoot suits in modern times--it just doesn't work unless it's some sort of alternate reality. I think Robert Rodriguez would have been an interesting director for a bond film as well, particularly after seeing the way he and Frank Miller did Sin City.

Another thing that ruined the latest bond films is that John Berry, the soundtrack composer for the majority of Bond films, died sometime in the 90's. Sadly, I can't find the date of his death easily on the net.

Brosnan was a great "seething bubbling rage" Bond.

But Connery still gets me all giggly. :D

Seconded. So far Brosnan and Connery are the "classics" in other words, their wardrobes and such were so frikkin dated as to be ridiculous in retrospect.

Most people disagree with me, but I really liked Timothy Dalton as Bond. He had a depth to him that made him much more believable (and frankly likable) than all the others, excpet perhaps Connery. I know, I know, I'm about to get yelled at.

As far as Brosnan goes, I do think he was born to play the role, but he suffered a horrible injustice in that each of the Bond films he was in happened to suck donkey balls. They were by far the worst Bond films ever made, despite the fact that they were graced with the presence of potentially the best fitting Bond actor. As a result, Brosnan's Bond was painfully flat and one-dimensional. He was unable to give us any reason to care about his character, other than that his name was in the title.

Roger moore was, eh, take him or leave him. He did okay, while he was there, but he was easily forgetable.

Sean Connery can't be beaten in whatever he plays, simply because he's Sean Connery. His Bond was great, no question, and the movies were good, but the same can be said for every role Connery's ever played. You see, he plays the same guy every time, himself. It's just that he's such an appealing person, we don't care. He's enjoyable to watch and hear, no matter what. Even in some of the real stinker movies he's been in, like Sword of the Valiant, his few scenes somehow manage to make the rest of the drivel worth watching. There are a handful of actors with that natural ability, technically lousy with zero range but so engaging we never notice and we love them anyway, and Sean Connery is at the top of the list.

As for the new guy, I don't know what to make of him. He certainly makes for a funny looking Bond, so hopefully his acting skills are better suited for the role than is his face.

I haven't seen any of his other movies, so I don't know what his acting is like. Well, that's not quite true. I did see Tomb Raider, but I don't remember him in it at all, even though I know he was there. (Guess I was too busy staring at Angelina the whole time while thinking to myself, "She looks damned good, but wasn't Lara Croft modeled on Rhona Mitra? How come Rhona's not playing her? I want my Rhona!";)

Anyway, too bad about that studio. I hope no one was hurt, and no damage was done to this or any other film that might have been in progress there.

The best Bond movie was "Majesty's Secret Service". The best Bond was George Lazenby.

CNN.com says it was the Venice city set of the movie. Movie is currently in post production so everything should be fine.
