There is a collaboration program called Groove Virtual Office that has a free trial available. It looks like it might be interesting if anyone wants try it out.

I am registered with it as Sue Baskerville .

I've played with Groove. It's kinda cool. I prefer cross platform web apps. I never know where or what platform I'll be sitting in front of. Some of these also provide API's that allow you to do whatever you like with you data.

So on with my list [some less relevant] :)

Group Collab Software
Central Desktop

Group Notetaking
Jotlive

Collaborative Calanders
Planzo
CalanderHub
Upcoming

Collaborative Document Generating
Writely

Collaborative Todo
Backpackit

Spreadsheets
NumSum

Wiki
Wikispace

Voicemail
Slawesome

Book recommending
Reader2

Music recommending
Last.fm

And of course....

Link Sharing
del.icio.us

Pic Sharing
Flickr

I'm sure I missed some, but these are the ones I use on a semi-regular basis.

Great resource link, Satch. This would be handy to refer to for some inworld organizations that need to collaborate outside of SL. Thanks!

Excellent response, Satchmo.

I wonder if there is a multiuser paint program?

I could find some multiuser whiteboards for quick sketching together but no real multiuser paint program.

Something where you could have a big sketch and a bunch of people work on painting it all in.

Groove looks real complex and powerful but I don't see any way to to just hook up with folks, it appears to be more for a pre-existing group of people than I thought.

The website http://www.kolabora.com has some collaboraton links that look like they might be worth investigating.

Meebo is slightly off topic but none the less useful for collaboration. It lets you log onto the 4 major IM networks at the same time via AJAX powered web app.

I hope peeps read this thread. This is Web 2.0. It is about collaboration, liquid interfaces (AJAX), and open API's. It started with the indies and now google, yahoo, ebay and amazon have caught on. Who will be left behind? (Perhaps companies that duplicate user created websites instead of providing them api hooks)

Get used to the term Mashups. It leverages user created content for the web.

I think it's kewl how that derives from usage of the term "mashups" in music. Or, even, treating software suites like a customizable smorgasbord—pick and choose what's useful to you and load it onto a unified plate.
