I find it interesting that a mainline church like the Presbyterians are doing this. I thought they supported King George.

According to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) website the publishing company is seperately incorporated and gets no funding from the church. Its board of directors are picked by the church's General Assembly but the editors are given a wide latitude in the books they choose, so what they publish doesn't mean that the church endorses it.
Many Presbyterians are even planning on boycotting the publisher. _____________________

The Sept. 11 commission was so frustrated with repeated misstatements by the Pentagon and FAA about their response to the 2001 terror attacks that it considered an investigation into possible deception, the panel's chairmen say in a new book. Republican Thomas Kean and Democrat Lee Hamilton ... said the commission found it mind-boggling that authorities had asserted during hearings that their air defenses had reacted quickly and were prepared to shoot down United Airlines Flight 93, which appeared headed toward Washington. In fact, the commission determined _ after it subpoenaed audiotapes and e-mails of the sequence of events _ that the shootdown order did not reach North American Aerospace Command pilots until after all of the hijacked planes had crashed. The one constant about conspiracy theories is that they will be abundant around any major event.
Let's say, hypothetically, that there is truth to this theory and that, eventually, more facts supporting the theory come out. What would it mean for the U.S. and current administration? If some piece of hard evidence came out that actually proved that George W. Bush and his associates orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, you'll probably see the worst political bloodletting in the history of this country. It would almost certainly ruin the Republican pary. Of course, if there WAS some hard link between GWB and the plane attacks, it would have either turned up by now, or it probably never will be. It's been almost 5 years, and you'd think that if anyone was going to talk, they would have. What really amazes me, however, is that our people still haven't found Osama. That, and Afghanastan seems to have fallen off the map politically. The news is all "Iraq, Iraq", and nobody mentions the other war we're involved in... it's almsot as if it doesn't exist. Hmm... I wonder if there's a connection THERE? |
