Well, sadly they really do eat hippos. At least, in Uganda. Mind you, they're a little more apprehensive about it since the anthrax outbreak :)

Did you know hippos come from the whale family?

Gotta do some intensive feeding of pecan pie to Hippos via a copper tube (similar to the foie gras process) for about three weeks. Serve stomach with a fine Dulce de Leche sauce and a nice glas of Tokaji. :p

They also kill a lot of people yearly.

They can also bite a grown man literally in half.

I just read in Smithsonian magazine that the false teeth used by George Washington were made from hippopotamus ivory.

They only do stuff like that because they're widely misunderstood and massively underappreciated so they get a little testy sometimes. Ask any kid what's your favorite animal, and you hear lion, tiger, dog, cat, horse, etc. You never hear hippo. The poor big lugs hardly get so much as an afterthought on most nature shows, and most zoos don't even have them. And don't even get me started on the stuffed animal stores. Sure, you can find toy hippos if you look hard enough, but the point is you do have to look. No one has to actively look for My Little Pony, or Doodle Bear, or Tigger, or Pound Puppies; they're everywhere you turn, and they're hugged and squeezed and appreciated. But the hippos? The best they ever had it was a sick, sadistic game where they were mounted to a plastic board, unable to move, so some little brat and 3 of his buddies could repeatedly slap them on the ass as rapidly as possible while force feeding them marbles. What the hell is that?

That's why a long time ago I decided hippos were gonna be my favorite (that, and they really are pretty cool), and that I'd treat them with love and respect. And has it paid off? Well, I can say definitively that I've never ever been attacked or even looked at the wrong way by a hippo, so you be the judge.

I just wonder why I can't get 'em to bring me my slippers.

Maybe it's the whole love thing you're talking about.

I've underappreciated my hippo.

/me hangs head

I'm sorry...hippo friend

Did your SL team spirit thread backfire?

Perhaps you should tell them about Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H

Maybe I miss what you mean there... but ... dude. It's pie. You can't choose anything over pie. Unless its a different flavor pie. But then you have to have the other pie too. So yeah. You can't not have pie.

Like..thats ok then. because you already had some pie.

You can do what you want with the hippo (within reason) ... but you need to have the pie first. Or some bannananaanaa nut bread... or a churro. and 'nilla icecream with all of it :D

How was the pie? I was thinking about ordering pie, but if you are considering the hippo, the pie must be wretched. :D

But ... but ... but ...

What about HIPPO pie?

Maybe SPRINKLED with crushed pecans?

And washed down with --- why, THANK you, Judah! --- some ice-cold Martinelli's?

But, of course, that would have to've been preceded by eggplant parmesan, served hot from the oven, dripping with perfectly melted cheese and an excellent puttanesca sauce ... side of garlic bread toasted all warm and golden brown ... perhaps a few stir-fried mushrooms lightly coated with a ginger-tamari dressing ...

omg.

time for another grocery run.

The pie was nice, but I was having some people from Indiana over, and they were telling me it ought to be 3.2.
