What an absolute genius. With such a temperamental instrument, one finds themselves preparing for the occasional missed note. It never comes. Instead he displays a mastery of the Ukulele, that I have never seen before. Such expression! Such perfection!

For those who are impatient, I recommend skipping to the 2/3 point for the crescendo and closing denouement. It's amazing.

Thank you Joy! :)

I believe this is the same guy who did a commercial here in Hawaii advertising Roadrunner high-speed online; did his super-high-speed strumming in it.
He is world-famous, atleast among ukulele enthusiasts.

Nice video.

That was absolutely beautiful.

I saw that guy a few weeks back, it has been racing around the net at the speed of light and is one of the rare instances where no matter how many times it pops up, I am actually pleased find another copy of it in my inbox and watch it like it is new.

And now for something totally different...

Thanks for the reminder!

That's Jake Shimabukuro - like no other ukelele player you've ever seen or heard. He was a mere 28 when he recorded that piece, live from Strawberry Fields in Central Park.

It's funny - typically if I said the word "ukelele" - depending on your age, you'd probably come back with something like: "Huh?!" or perhaps "George Formby!" or "dumbass titchy little annoying toy guitar for kids and crappy buskers".

Prepare to have your preconceptions and prejudices turned upside down.

There's more Jake to be had at his own site or alongside some other pretty fine players at Midnight Ukelele Disco (look under the 2004/2005 tab).

Scorching.
