Pluto's officially no longer a planet. Well, sort of.

As of this morning, the Pluto debate is apparently over. It seems we've lost a planet, and gained three "dwarf planets", Pluto, Ceres, and Xena. I have no idea if that means we should say we have 8 planets in our solar system or 11. Was it a loss or a gain? Astronomers, it seems, now top engineers in the "if it ain't broke, break it" school.

Baffling.

It'll be a new game show soon.

Hooray for planet Xena! I, for one, welcome our new planetary Amazonian overlords.

Shame about Pluto being voted off the island, though.

Good thing you didn't name your bird "Pluto"! If you had, it wouldn't be a bird anymore!

Good riddance! I've always been ruffled by the fact that Pluto's orbit is highly elliptical, is out-of-plane, intersects Neptune's orbit, and is 3/2 in phase with Neptune (suggesting that it was captured by Neptune's gravity).

Now he can get back to the underworld. He never did belong up in the heavens wondering around.

Pluto is ugly too, and is an illegitimate child. He also had his name changed to Hades to avoid getting carded in bars.

I say while they are at it get rid of Neptune as well!
How much more fun to recite the planets in order and getting to stop with Uranus!

They also named the moon Gabrielle! :)
But they're saying it's just a temporary name.

Anyway, like I suggested earlier: make Pluto an _honorary_ planet, keep the Solar System at 9, and keep almost everyone happy.

This is part of a larger scandal to eliminate Miss Pluto from the Miss Universe pageant.

This kind of pageant politics makes me sick!

Well, maybe they can do a new Sailor Moon Season and have Lucy Lawless guest voice.

Sailor Xena would kick the tush of every other Sailor Scout out there. :D

So I suppose we now have eight definite planets and three probationary pseudo-planets?

Does this mean the solar system is officially undergoing a reorg? I never got the memo. :(
