Hi,

I'm translating parts of a video I would like to get subtitled and I'm looking for a specific slang expression.

The context: person likes a specific menu as it contains shortcuts for accessing common functions. This makes the menu in the person's opinion very quick and comfortable to use.

What I'm trying to translate:

"What I really appreciate about it is its quickness. I do not have to ... [claw my way? mosey? what he means is 'navigate cumbersomely'] through different menu sections over and over again to get to things. I can immediately see where I have to go. For me, it's a total simplification of things."

I would be very grateful about your input on this, especially on the "navigate" slang word. Thanks a bunch!!! :)

The menu is very efficient, I do not have to fumble through different menu sections over and over again to get to things.

"What's fly? This baby is quick! No schlepping [No sloshing] all up in a menu--this is all in your face. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy." :D

(You will notice several different slang dialects--Yiddish, British, American, American South)

If you wish to 'spice it up' a bit more, this link might prove helpful:

Since you asked, Anna... :)

I took 4 years of German in High School. The German textbooks that we were provided were rather dated.... from the 1970's, in fact.

A common exclamation we were taught in School was "Toll!" (As in, a sort of expression to express "Cool!" in english, I think.).

Many years later, I used the word "Toll" with a German speaker, and they looked at me like I was from another planet. Could you explain what the heck Toll means, and if its a dated expression? :)

You could use "scour through" or maybe "rummage through" too. There's alot of choices really!

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!

The appropriate word is SLOG

slog-

2 : to plod (one's way) perseveringly especially against difficulty

I do not have to slog through different menu sections over and over again to get to things.

It's not really slang, but I don't hear it enough for it to be normal.

Nice try, Euterpe. :D
