I don't know why this popped into my head, but have you ever noticed that no matter how long you chew corn... and I mean chew chew chew...it still comes out like it's not been?

Its something about how the outside of a kernal isnt digestible by humans. When it passes through your system I would guess that part sort of refills with other waste.

I *think* it's because we don't have the enzyme hemicellulase, although it may be xylanase. One of the two, maybe both break down fiberous plant material.
