I love my wagon. I can carry all sorts of junk, I can drive in the snow with my all-wheel drive, I have the flexibility of a hatch and the handling of a sports sedan.

All the girls look at me funny ("why a wagon?!";) all the boys look at me and nod. The cops don't even notice me. ;)

I was listening to Car Talk on the radio one day and they had a guy call up and want to know if he should buy a BMW, Mercedes or Audi.

They said don't get the model of BMW he was looking at because they hated the interface to control the car (the single screen/controls everything feature), then they asked if he was the type of pretentious prick (not the exact term I don't think) who wanted everyone to know he was one or the type of pretentious prick who only wanted other pricks to know that he was one and that would determine whether he should go for the Mercedes or the Audi.

I thought it was a great answer since I never really associated Audi with high-grade (just not common) until I started realizing who I knew who drove them, then I realized they were a high end car with a more subtle reputation than the other high end makers.

A couple years back when I was shopping I really wanted an Audi but ended up buying a Subaru VDC instead for the drive train and higher ride. Several of my coworkers have Audi's and love them.

Just last Friday I traded in the Subaru and purchased a 07 Explorer Sport Trac since I wanted something with a bed since I commonly haul things I don't want inside of my car. So far I'm loving it.

I've been a VW kid for years, so Audi seemed like a natural progression in my car ownership. I had a BMW about 10yrs ago, but it was a POS, so I got rid of it.

Audi's went through a period of poor quality during the 80's and into the early 90's, but have since greatly improved. Now, that doesn't mean they are as reliable as Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus - but what they lack in reliability they make up for in driving experience.

I was > < this close to buying a Subaru GT wagon, but stumbled on this slightly used S4 - I couldn't resist!

I like my minivan. It's a 96 plymoth voyager with 190K miles.

It's great since without the back seats, I can haul 4x8 sheets of plywood.

And last year I rented a trailer and pulled a 5000 pound forklift home.
How much do transmitions cost? ... Maybe I should be more careful...

I would be worried about an engine rebuild with 190k miles more so than the transmission
