I have been thinking about a book I read as a kid (not a children's book, but I was a freak), and wanted to see if I could find it to read again. It's kinda intresting to see how much of the impact a book made on me as a kid remains when I read it as an adult. Anyway...basic premise is a group of non-related people are kidnapped and held in a huge building of stairs. Without going over all the minute details, it ends up being a pavlovian social experiment and only ends when one refuses to comply and almost dies of starvation, so the scientists end it.
Anyone recall this book? I thought it was "Up the Down Staircase" maybe, but I looked this up, an it's something entirely different.

Have you seen the film The Cube? It's kinda along similar lines, kinda, sorta.
