Hey all,

I'm trying to ditch Windows once and for all, but I need a stable version of SL that runs voice, and the Linux client can't do that for me at the moment.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 beta, and I can get SL running on Wine just fine, with voice and everything... but for some reason, I can't click my mouse in conjunction with CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT!

I already disabled Ubuntu's "Alt+drag to move a window" shortcut, but that didn't seem to resolve the problem. Does anyone have some wisdom to share on this subject? Thanks!

Goodness !!, you have Secondlife running 'featureful', on 8.04 with wine !!!.

The reason for my excitement was the fact that 8.04 seems to have problems with voice, using the native linux client.

So I rushed off and installed Secondlife and Quicktime for Windows, and what do you know it works !!, voice movies and all, and not only that its running on my Ubuntu 7.10 (64 bit !!!). I have 1 extra frame too, lol, its a small increase :). I do have a viewer crash when stopping movies with the viewer button, but the viewer carries on working, just with no movie support until it's restarted.

During all this excitement I encountered your problem, and found a workaround for me that works!!, instead of holding down shift or ctrl first then mouse clicking......click the mouse first, then press shift or ctrl and hold to achieve the result, it seems to have worked for me, as I said I use 7.10 so I really hope it works for you too. And thanks for posting the success you have had so far on 8.04.

:D

UPDATE:
The work around only works for shift-click, to drag and copy, as I found out, but still the rotate(ctrl-click) etc. is available from the edit menu, but not the same I know :(.

After a bunch of research, it looks like this may be a Wine bug. I guess I'll just have to resign myself to trying to get voice working on Linux.

[RESOLUTION]

Definitely a Wine bug. I downgraded to Wine 0.9.58 and all is well. Huzzah!

Great news, thanks for reporting back, sometimes people get they're problems fixed, and dont reply back to inform others of the fix, so thanks for that.

I have found a way to get voice working in the official native linux viewer with 8.04, I was reading from this post,

And used a solution someone else found, I posted what I did just so people know with 8.04 just around the corner, it does work, lol. I did not test it on 64 bit, so hope that works ok, assuming anyone has it anyway :).
