Disparity of service

A few things are annoying me these days. First, the limit on prims you are able to take to inventory as an unlinked set has been reduced, which is very annoying and bad for business and content builders.

Now I hear that free accounts are going to have an inventory cap of 10,000 items. Does anyone know if this is true? This will ruin my SL experience if it is true. I currently have 25,000 items in my inventory, around 8000 of these are mega-prims alone! No matter how much I try and reduce my inventory it will never be possible to get below 10,000 items.

If this does happen, what is going to happen to my inventory? Which 15,000 items will I lose? Why do they think I will continue here of they do this?

25,000L a month is brought into SL to purchase my items, so I don't see how the status of my account should have any bearing on the standard of service I recieve. Are they trying to totaly alienate content builders here?

And while we are on the subject of disparity....how come I can attach 250 prim scripted items to all 30 of my avatar attach points, making my render cost go over 100,000...yet everything else is in decline all the time?

Do they want everyone just standing around in empty sims wearing as many attachments as they can, doing pointless gestures and talking about what Gary said to Darren, who said Tracy said to April that James didn't say anything to Florence?

Is this the future of SL? If so, I need to un-learn my building skills and learn how to talk pointless drivel like I am in spacebook or myface or some dumb chat-room.

That is not disparity, everyone is subject to the same limits.

I think this rumor came from a spoof of the SL blog that Vint Falken posted a few months ago. It included some slick little charts, so apparently some missed that it was a spoof. Here is the probable origin of the story you heard:

It is disparity when being able to wear 7500 prims on your avatar, yet not being able to take 1000 prims to your inventory.

Not really, they are very different operations. You can't take an attachment at all. because when you wear it, it hasn't left your inventory in the first place. You can rez such an object, but then it is not an attachment and it also won't be any larger than 256 prims (can only wear one link set per attachment point).

Objects rezzed in world actually leave your inventory, it's a very different series of events that happens when one of those is taken.

I realise that, I mean its a disparity because they allow being able to have ridiculessly high av render cost, yet all other aspects are in decline, such as those mentioned above.

Ahhh the joy of double standards.

Perhaps the could institute an AV rendering cost limit to free accounts? It sounds a bit harsh at first but when you think about when you were perhaps a n00b and wore a bunch of stuff you didn't need to that caused people around you to lag it's a bit of a good idea. Then again limiting child av's from causing a sim with 1 person on it to come to a grinding halt would be a good idea too.
