Found a Kingston 2 gig DDR2 RAM module, installed it, and now my computer does not see the other RAM module.
The RAMs I have available are a 512, 1 gig and the kingston 2 gig. All RAMS and slots seem to be working but when I install the 2 gig with the 1 gig, my machine seem sto be running only the 2 gig as if the 1 gig was not there. It does not matter which slot I install either one. I have tried several configurations but whenever the 2 gig is in, that is the only one that runs.
I know Kingston hardware is a pain.
I am running a 2 year old compaq with a celeron 3.3 ghz processor.
Is there something in the control panel I may need to adjust or whatever? I am a litle rusty with my computer skills.
thanks.

RAM really should be installed in matched pairs, just so you know. Otherwise, you won't get the benefit of dual channel. 3GB of non-matched RAM will perform worse than 2GB matched.
That's probably not the reason you're not seeing all 3GB, though. What model is the machine? It's possible it only supports 2GB. It's also possible you might need to adjust a setting in the BIOS to allow for more.
If you don't know the model of the computer, the most important thing to find out is what motherboard is in it. An easy way to find out is to download and run CPUZ. It will tell you the make and model of your motherboard, CPU, and RAM modules, along with specs for each.
