I am still having problems with textures and or my cache.
If I let a room load...go out onto my frontporch...come back into the room that has loaded previously...it has to totally reload AGAIN. Same problem as before. Is anyone else having this problem?
Sometimes only certain things will load in a room..and also in groups of people..not all people load. Same problem for me as before. Getting tired of the color gray.
TY.

Someone has mentioned using the date modified field on the cache file to see if it is actually getting updated at all while SL is running and reporting that it is not actually being changed during the operation of SL.
Does this idea really make sense, and if it does, has anyone tried this or would anyone be willing to try it and report the results?

Mine doesnt actually change date/time during use, it will be renamed at the start of use and the time will represent the time sl is started, it will then be updated when sl is shutdown, between those times the file is locked and im not sure if windows will show an update to a locked file At the moment im more inclined to think there is more of an issue witht he image list/amount of ram available for use for larger cards than a cache problem, from the past few days i've only been able to get a 256MB card to use 160Mb GL Mem (in stats/advanced/textures) even at the highest drawdistance, this is the same as the highest you will see at 128Mb setting, even more compelling i used -noprobe and then set my 256Mb to use the 512Mb option and couldnt for it to crash by using too much memory, instead still using upto 160Mb GL What i did notice that the larger the draw distance the worse texture seem to load as they will fill up the available ram and then the handling is quite slow after that, so if you have slow or non loading textures try lowering your draw distance. Personally i would think for 128Mb-256,512 cards 160Meters should work well texture wise, if speed is a problem then lower, 64Mb cards then 128Meters, 32Mb then 64Meters Attached some images including one at 512M draw distance to show no more memory is used past 160Mb
