Can't teleport or change avatar

ok so I just started and when I try to edit something like hair style, I use the slider but nothing changes, and when I was told to search for free stuff like hairstyles, I found places, but when I click teleport I get

"Could not teleport Problem encountered processing your teleport request, You may need to log back in before you can teleport. If you continue to get this message, please check the tech support FAQ at: www.secondlife.com/support"

Do I have to pay to change appearance or teleport?

No, you don't have to pay before changing your appearance or teleporting.

Did you try logging out and logging back in, as the error message suggested? Sometimes SL just glitches and you have to relog.

This sounds to me like it might be a result of a flaky internet connection. How's your connection? Are you wireless?

yeah I relogged, and still same thing, someone with mentor came by and said cant teleport on beginner island and they said I can't change or make new clothes, etc.. idk whats going on

Ah, I don't know much about the current beginner island experience. I would ask the mentor how to get off beginner island; maybe someone else on the forum (I am not in world at the moment) can send you a teleport to get you out of there. Good luck.

Having same problem Jeremy...have you solved the prob yet? Didn't have this prob...first awhile back...but have just rejoined....and having this problem now

Accidentally solved the problem with teleporting.. Went to a billboard in Help island and clicked on one of the advertisers....and was able to teleport there...now can go to any location. hope this helps anyone with the same problem

As far as changing your hair:

There are really three kinds of hair:

1 - there is prim hair, which is attached. It's kind of like a wig. If you right-click on your hair and see "Detach" in the pie menu that comes up, that's what you're wearing.

I think all of the starter avatars have that sort of hair.

Usually under that hair is a bald cap that keeps your... um, growable hair from showing.

You can see if you're wearing that if you type "WORN" without quotation marks in the filter window of your inventory.

2 - growable avatar hair. This is the kind that you can change with sliders. It looks cartoony and flat and I haven't seen anyone use it.

3 - hair that's part of your skin. Some skins, usually men's skins, come with hair on the head. It's always short, and you can't take it off without changing skin.

Is there no one who can help me get out of this state of stuck dom? I can't transport out of here and there's no teleport to touch to help me transition.
