I recently talked to many Linden's in game about dragging Outfits onto my av and having them get all messed up....(clothes staying and face color not changing, and just getting all mixed up..) I did some thinking today and realized that before this most recent release all of my body shape and clothing names are the same....(i never renamed them)....now with the new outfit options they save under new names automatically...I think this may solve the problem of the mismatched outfits but there is still one more thing that i can't fix The brak head still loses the face texture....not sure what is happening here but I would be happy to work with a linden on this and give a copy of it.....I can't get it to work...(guess you could just take a copy from me ...hehehe Let me know if you need anymore info or my assistance....

re: Brak's head

hey Val, there's some new texture bug in 0.4 or 0.41, i already reported it. the easiest way to reproduce it is make a hollow cylinder, drag a texture to the hollow side, then hit ctrl-D to duplicate it. the texture on hollow side get overwritten(with the bottom face texture), until you interact with the cylinder again. your Brak head should be fine once they fix this bug.

I had problems with several of my outfits last night. Two or three would work properly when I dragged the folder from inventory to my avatar. Another two or three would do absolutely nothing.
Phoenix came by to chat with me about it -- I gave him one of the outfits that didn't do squat for me, and he tried it on (Phoenix makes a *lovely* wonder woman, btw!). It worked for him. I logged off, back on, tried again, still no joy.
So here's what he had me do: in C:\program files\second life\data -- delete EVERYTHING in that directory with the following three exceptions:
1) Shebang_Sunshine directory (use your own name in place of mine there, obviously!) 2) static_data.db2 3) static_index.db2
After deleting everything but those three, and logging back in, all my outfits worked correctly for me again.

I had a similar instance last night (after the latest release (03-05-03)) with switching from one avatar (or even just an outfit) to another...
Everything was fine with switching through the first 2 or 3, but when I got to the last one (the only one with an accessory (dragon wings mounted to my spine)), from that point forward nothing would change. I would see the "light" from my "effect color" as a concentrated beam on my avatar's body as if there was something actually happening, but when the light would disappear, the outfit/av I had been wearing prior to the attempted switch would still be worn.
Not sure how/if the accessory item is related in any way or not, but the work-around for it (for me) was to have my avatar remove ALL clothes and then re-drag/drop the desired folder to my avatar.
May be related... may not be. Figured this was a good thread in which to mention it.

I've noticed a bug...(also after the new release as well as before)...when you are lagging and switching costumes fast sometimes the attachments get messed up or face color remains same when it should have changed....(I don't think it's related to the texture problem they fixed....great job on that by the way I was switching through my avs quickly last night and when i got to darth vader it worked...then i switched to boba fett and back to darth and the helmet and lightsaber were on my leg and nothing else was showing....I switched av's again and back to darth and it worked.... as far as face color and body styles staying same no matter how many times you switch you can just relog and it should fix it....(it did for me once) (the other time i just changed my face color manually another thing i'm having a problem with is turning on and off the lightsaber....using nexus's lightsaber (correct me if it's not nexus's ...you type "ls on" to extend and "ls off" to retract....when i do these things I hear the proper sounds but do not see the blade....any suggestions lindens? PS - all of my av's are there for the taking lindens'.....if you wanna test some rapid switching of av's feel free to grab them...(the lightsaber is not in the darth vader av because it is nexus's.....I'm sure he'd let ya get one

Voodoo, i think i know what's happening. when you put on the wings, then drag another outfit to your Avatar, you are actually dragging it to your wings instead. if you edit your wings and look in the content tab, i expect you will find several outfits in there. =7 i know this because i've done the same before.

WINGS
03-11-2003 06:54
I would not at all be surprised to find out this is accurate. I have a hodgepodge of things loose in my clothing folder from outfits that I "created" without knowing what exactly I was doing... and I have mistakenly edited, repositioned, and so on...the wings themselves several times without actually intending to.
That's what I get for trying to customize the car before getting my learner's permit, heheh... However, I do appreciate the feedback. Tonight I will log in and take a look at the wings again and see if that is still the case.
