Sometimes its a tough day accomplishing things in SL. I'd love to learn how to understand this panel here. What do these figures mean? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oo i didn't mean it like that. That's a silly quote about hiding things that should be up front and easy to find. It took me 3 or 4 tries to find that page, it kept returning a very old outdated one.
Sorry if i sounded all smug_go to the wiki, it certainly was not meant that way. Ive tackled more than my share of laggy sims, if you need some help deciphering one.. jus catch me inworld. =) |

FPS - YOUR frames per second, they look good ( I don't know your PC specks, but looks like they are getting into the high 20's at some point (the red highlight)
Bandwidth- is low ( I always see this as good if everything is DL'ed 0% packet loss - GOOD ping is high to me but thats dependent on your distance from the actual server (someone can correct me I may be wrong) Simulator Time Dialation - 99% is fine 100% is perfect but its SL , if this is showing drops to 80 or 40 or lower there is an issue on the sim sim FPS- 45 , is max for SL from what I have read, and the best I have ever had... Physics at 44.6 FPS - should be good as well, I may be wrong I normaly don't look at that I would be concerned (if its your land or sim with the 8840 objects and 8565 Scripts .. not so much the objects but that is a ton of active scripts .. BUT the time and FPS seem fine... _____________________

For when the sim is acting up, I usually watch the sim fps and physics fps values. You can click on those (try it a few times) and get a 10-second or so history which makes it a lot easier to watch for lag spikes. As said above, 45 is a good as these numbers get - the sim code is fps locked so they will never, EVER go above 45, even on a totally empty & bored region.
If this is a region you own or where you make your home, it's a good idea to take a look at these numbers every once-in-a-while so you know where they normally are when the sim is happy. 8600 active scripts is indeed pretty high but that _may_ be perfectly normal on that region and _may_ not be a problem. Same with the script events value. Pending downloads should normally be 0 but will sometimes jump up a bit, especially when people are TPing in or your rezzing things. If this seems to be constantly climbing, DO NOT rez anything no-copy that you care about or spend any L$. As often as not, this going way up means some kind of asset server or other back-end problem at LL. I usually ask around if others (on other regions) are having TP/rez/L$ problems and ask LL for a restart if it seems isolated to my home and doesn't clear up after ~15 minutes. If the sim is laggy - if the sim fps number or time dilation is down - you can click on "time (ms)" to get a breakdown of what the sim is spending its time doing. I usually just watch these values for a few minutes and look for something that's constantly high or has values that jump when the lag spikes. Again, if you're interested in performance stuff, it's a good idea to watch the numbers even when the sim is happy so you get a feel for what numbers are normal... Also, Advanced/Show Updates is a good one for tracking down sim issues - especially for finding things abusing temp rezzers.. More info about that at _____________________
