When someone pays me, I get a notification box in the upper-right of my screen, and it steals keyboard focus. It interrupts conversations and interferes with roleplay and combat.
Is there any way to make that notice non-modal, or turn it off?

Look for "Notify when Linden Dollars (L$) spent or received" in the general tab of the preferences. It's not in with all the other notifications, because that would make it too easy to find  |

Yes, this is a bug they introduced some time ago, the latest Release Candidate fixes it, but it's not gone 'live' yet. So there will come a day when you can turn that back on.
