newview.exe error

The update before this last one resulted in an occasional error message with "the application failed to initialize newview.exe" so I would restart my machine and all would be well.

Now with the latest update, I can add a new error to the mix "ordinal 55435 could not be located in dynamic link library msvcrt.dll" so again, restart the machine and all will be well.

The first one occasionally occurs when in Second Life and all stops working. Log out and can't get back in, restart and then I can get back in.

I'm fairly new, three weeks, and am having fun in Second Life. But constantly restarting my machine to clear an error message is not my idea of fun.

Personally, I'd rather have fun IN Second Life.

Think I'll go restart my machine now.

Did you try uninstalling SL, rebooting, then re-downloading SL straight from the website and reinstalling?

Sometimes it's better to do a clean install than installing on top of the previous version, just in case some stale files don't get cleaned up properly.

Tell us about your system. What's the make and model of your CPU/motherboard/RAM/video card? What version of Windows/DirectX/chipset drivers/video drivers you have installed?

Duh...normally I remember to add all that stuff.

WindowsXP, latest necessary update installed. Intel 2.8 1 gig RAM hyperthreading, ATI 9800 XP (128mb), DirectX 9.0, ASUS board with Intel chipset, Catalyst 4.6 drivers

Assuming that I uninstall/reinstall...what files do I need to keep on the computer? That's assuming, if any.
