This is really hard to explain, but I was hoping someone may know the answer....since updating the other day my avatar has funny coloured cones, triangles, shapes etc coming from what appears to be her head, or the mouse pointer. I don't know if it appears on other people's screens or not. I have searched the forums with little success, turning off the "show updates" thing does not work for me. This was the only possible solution I could find. I have even tried uninstalling it from my PC and reinstalling but it is still appearing. Please Help!!!! Any ideas anyone?!?!?

By the sounds of it, you are using a ATI card, which has been reported many times in the forums as having OpenGL issues. In Catalyst, turn all features to 'Let application decide'. In the graphics tab (SL Client), click the Hardware settings button and deselect the Avatar Vertex Buffer Objects, also deslect the Avatar Impostors in the main graphics window, should help. Making sure that all your graphics drivers are up to date, including Catalyst.

Ah ok...after doing a bit of searching on the web I've found out that Catalyst is a type of graphics card, no wonder I didn't know this because my machine runs a Radeon X300 therefore had never heard of Catalyst.....should I still try the above to fix this problem because now I can't perform many of the steps you suggested.....PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Catalyst is the control programme for ATI cards, you should download and install the latest version. Think of it as a Control panel for your graphics. Checkout this page http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html you can see by the banner that the drivers and the Catalyst programme are one of the same family. _____________________

ok so all my drivers were up to date, I do not have a catalyst and since I have never heard of it I am not adding to the rubbish I already have on my machine. The problem seems to have disappeared now anyway, instead I just can't log in very well and rarely teleport, but nevermind thats a different issue altogether....thanks for your help anyway
